I like that Q384 at the 7:30 mark: "Hey, getting ready to do battle up Sand Patch, here's an empty flatcar head out"

Unreal! LOL. They'll never learn, even when they dump them, they still continue to do it.

Yah, my son tells me those old Junkers are pretty drafty. He keeps a roll of ducktape in his grip to seal the door up once they are in side. LOL

Thanks David. I was bundles up pretty good. But Even heavily dressed, that bitter temp and the wind blowing, it was torture.

Awesome job! As always. Brings back good memories when they we’re running a lot of traffic through there and using manned helpers
@1jackdk4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Robert. and yah, your right. Train numbers have dropped big time over the years, and now with the DP's, manned helpers are a thing of the past. Not to mention, they doubled the length of the trains. Many trains pushing the 200 car mark. Coal is dropping as well. Usually see 3-4 loaded coal trains a day past the house. I haven't seen one in daylight past for a couple days. My son works for NS and runs coal off the old MGA. Blacksville shipped there last train 3 days ago. So more traffic is about to take a hit.
@robertbraeuner20314 жыл бұрын
@@1jackdk not good news for sure. I hope your son has decent seniority so he can ride out any uncertainties. I won’t be surprised if NS eventually single tracks the Mon south of Port Perry. It’s sad to see this happening Jack to our coal traffic/industry

You can still see most of those leaser paint schemes on the Wheeling & Lake Erie

Great video Jack. I really hope to get up to Sand Patch one day.
@1jackdk4 жыл бұрын
Thanks James, glad you enjoyed it. Sand Patch is neat, but just not the same as in the 90's. Everything is grown in now, since the code lines were pulled, and gates and no Trespassing signs everywhere. Plus the lack of traffic, and no more maned helpers. Its pretty sad going up there. Thanks for watching.

@@1jackdk oh no Jack. I live on the Princeton Deepwater district, NS dropped the traffic in 2015. Just not the same down here in Coal country. Was hoping traffic was still good on the Sand Patch it was a bucket item. Thanks again for the videos I enjoy them.
