It’s a tough one. We feel like the dealer busts on the soft 17 and the book says staying on 17s is better for the player. We rarely see anything other than hitting the soft 17. We hate the 6/5 blackjack as well. Appreciate you watching

I enjoy your videos and looked forward to this one, but it is really hard for me to watch you place these high odds side bets every hand, even when you are doing poorly in the base game. It might be one thing to place $10 in side bets if you are playing > $200 per hand (5% of your base bet), but quite another when your base bet is $25 (40% of your base bet). I hope you will watch your video back and keep a tally of how much you lost on these side bets. And yes, I saw that you caught a good side bet win late in your game, but you just can't count on that to happen. As a retired table games manager (Caesars, Rio) I wince at this type of play, as I really want to see you guys book a big win. As Vegas locals, I'm sure you know that if those side bets were good for the player the casino would never have placed them on the layout. The side bets take games that are usually good for the player, like blackjack and baccarat, and make them games that are ALWAYS good for the casino. Notice how the dealer readily pays off your base bets in reds so you can keep placing side bets? The bosses love this type of play and will always encourage you to continue it. If you are placing these side bets solely to entertain your viewers, I hope you will at least consider the possibility that most of us would be just as entertained to see you leave the table as winners. I look forward to your future videos.

Okay hold up. Splitting 9s is correct basic strategy against a 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, or 9. 18 is not a good hand. You split 9s against small cards because a starting 9 is favored in that case. You split 9s against an 8 becaue your 18's only likely to push and a 9 is favored against a dealer 8. You split 9s against a 9 because your 18's likely to lose and you're better starting with two hands of 9 against that 9. You should be splitting 9s more than 50% of the time they're dealt to you. The side bets, while bad for bankroll overall, are admittedly good for KZbin content, and if the channel eventually becomes profitable through advertising revenue the occasional big win on the side bet may be paying more than just that 25:1 or 200:1 you see on the felt - it's paying here on KZbin as well, in a way. The ONLY thing people should be bitching at anyone on here for (aside from blatant basic strategy mistakes like splitting 10s as a non-counter) is being willing to play at a table where the dealer hits Soft 17, with the exception of 1 and 2 deck tables where 2-deck H17 is roughly in line on house edge with generous rules on 6+ deck, and a single deck S17 would have a player edge, so it's understandable that doesn't exist.
