Love the analog gauges on the 2007! At what mileage will Peoria retire this coach? Will Peoria rebuild an engine and keep it in service or sell old coaches after certain number of miles?
@alblua6 ай бұрын
Analog gauges are definitely nicer! There's no set point in retirement for us. Sometimes we will rebuild, sometimes we will sell, depends on the state of the vehicle

Congratulations on 1k subscribers. Were you deadheading a bus, on a line run to Chicago, I recognize the Chicago yard. That was a noisy coach, but it is a 2007 with a lot of miles. Looking forward to more vlogs
@alblua7 ай бұрын
It was a indeed deadhead back to Chicago base after finish a line run. 262k is actually very low mileage for a coach this old! We have 2018 coaches that have well exceeded 300k already and some 2016 coaches have surpassed half a million miles.

@alblua I haven't watched this vlog yet and will be later after dinner. Is this older j4500 an Allison transmission or ZF?
@alblua7 ай бұрын
This one thankfully has an Allison! We don't have any ZF's left in the fleet.
@rogerr.72287 ай бұрын
@alblua Gotcha. I've ridden on a j4500 from this generation almost a decade ago with a zf. Was on a vacation tour with Lamers bus lines (largest bus line service in Wisconsin). Went to Michigan as well as Toronto and Nigeria Falls, Canada. Fun trip! That was June of 2014. Guessing it about a 2011 or 2012 model; one of the newest coaches in the fleet at the time. Bus # 1095
@alblua7 ай бұрын
I remember being on an old Lamers Prevost when I was younger! I've seen them with some newer J4500's on the road recently. We had some C2045's for sure and maybe J4500's (not sure before my time) with ZF transmissions. They were very unpopular with drivers, passengers, and mechanics so we phased them out but kept the older Allison's around.

You should compare the MCI J4500 to Gillig Low Floor because it has same park brake sounds and kneeling beeps.
@alblua6 ай бұрын
Could have the same parts manufacturer! A lot of buses share some basic components. If someone with a Gillig invites me I'd be down!
@jasoncheng4516 ай бұрын
@@alblua When you kneel the bus after parking, I can’t hear the kneeling beeps from the outside. Only inside the coach. Gillig Low Floor and Prevost buses have kneeling beeps outside transit vehicle.
@alblua6 ай бұрын
You can't hear it the engine is so loud and the condensor fans were right next to the camera. On the MCI J4500 coaches, the kneeling alarm is installed "just behind the door sensor beside the entrance door claw" (from maintenance manual). It's audible from the outside if you stand by the entrance door.
@airbus73737 ай бұрын
Is the front of this bus as loud as the camera makes it seem? Nice video anyways and congrats
@alblua6 ай бұрын
Maybe a little quieter, but otherwise yes. Illinois roads are pretty bad and rattle everything too 🥲

262,000? That almost certainly means the odometer has turned over once… more likely 1,262,000. Otherwise it’s done an awful lot of sitting around or the odometer isn’t right.
