And the music lessons they took after this showed in Ride the lighting and Puppets. I know you didn't say that this was their best. They definitely got better as the 80's progressed as you can tell with all the albums that followed right up until The Black Album, but I feel these days they don't play their classic material to it's full potential. Some of the drumming is simplified with fills not being played properly and a lack of awareness of what should be done to bring out the full potential of a song. Whereas back here, everything they play has a near perfect studio representation while still capturing that live energy.

To be sure "Kill'em All" didn't have one bad song on it. But 'Phantom Lord' in my book was the best song on the album and one of the greatest pure unrelenting Thrash Metal songs ever recorded.
