Wow, Two KCS engines taking a CSX train. Lucky you!!!

+Jon Guiot Yes, it was certainly a nice catch, but I wished I would have seen them moving. However, K661 goes through there more regularly, so I hope for another chance.

I do appreciate your risking your health in the rain to make these great catches for all to watch in more comfortable circumstances. Does the crew just lock up the engine and leave? Do they use card locks?
@mbmars018 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Well, we are not (exclusively) made of sugar, so rain is not a risk to health and can be quite refreshing at times down here! Yeah, as to tying down a train, it's more or less like you said. What kind of locks and keys they have, I don't know, though.

Outstanding work on these trains. Your videos are so awesome to watch. I subscribed to your channel just to watch all the trains that I would normally see coming down the old Clinchfield and Charlotte Subs into and out of Hamlet. Have you thought of making DVDs of your videos? I would gladly purchase them. Again, GREAT work and videography!!!!!!!
@mbmars019 жыл бұрын
+Darrell Twitty Thank you so much for your supportive comment. I haven't yet thought of making DVDs. Nice idea, but most of my vids are on youtube anyway - and already there in Full HD quality. The Abbeville playlist contains more than 100 videos. I'm really sorry about the Clinchfield and Charlotte Subs. If CSX was to close the Abbeville Sub, my activity would come to an immediate end, because all other lines are too far away for continued coverage. But even the Abbeville is unpredictable; yesterday it was great, today rather lousy - only one long-distance train between sunrise and sunset!

+mbmars01 Knowing that all these trains come through Monroe, I have got to get ATCS loaded on my laptop so I can head down that way. Being only an hour away isn't so bad and I know that area pretty well. I've caught Q194/195 at Monroe Yard doing their usual run around to get into and out of Charlotte.
@mbmars019 жыл бұрын
+Darrell Twitty ATCS was great on the Abbeville, too. Unfortunately, when CSX modernized their signal system, we were thrown back to old-fashioned scanners as the primary resource of information. So, finding the trains has become more challenging again.

how long did it take for a crew to get the K train and was it blocking any crossings
@mbmars018 жыл бұрын
That's been a while that I shot this video. So I don't remember it in this case. It typically depends on whether or not replacement crews are available and how long it takes to bring them in. It can take an entire night but sometimes crews also change "by handshaking".

All spots are near Athens GA. You'll find it on google maps.
@justisbaker74528 жыл бұрын
why do you cut part of the trains out, it seems like everyone dose it they take the video of the train but leave half the train out, still a good video though.
@mbmars018 жыл бұрын
+justis baker I'd think in those cases where I film the same train at different locations, most or all cars can be seen in the movie. However, showing a unit train of grain cars, tank cars, or hoppers completely can be a bit boring for most people. I try to avoid cuts, and normally cut only if there are, say 10 grain cars in a row. Then I may only show the first one or two. Many of my videos are already rather long and would be even longer without such cuts.
