What!? "Q" which pronounce as "kyu" is actually 9 in Japan!?! That's amazing!

Considering 1984 is already "in use" clever decision

Q denotes a question mark. On page 158, Aomame herself remarks that she’ll name this world 1Q84, a world filled with questions!

This is one of my favorite books ever! I'm a huge Murakami fan and my next video is going to be all about The Wind Up Bird Chronicle! Glad you enjoyed 1Q84 so much. I've heard people complain about the third book being too long but I just enjoyed the whole journey.

Ha, I actually just picked up Wind Up Bird and it's sitting in my shelf waiting for me to finish my current read. If it's half as good as 1Q84 I'm sure I'll love it and will surely do a video for it

This channel is fantastic! I love reading fantasy books and making cocktails. Always experimenting with new drinks and throwing home-based martini parties (pre-isolation). This channel couldn’t be more perfect for me to follow. Good luck with this. Hope to see many, many more. Cheers! 🍸

Great video, well composed and edited review. 1Q84 was a little daunting when I began it despite being an avid Murakani fan, but not necessarily an avid reader. It's true that the book really flew by though!

I read this book years ago. It changed my perception of what could be done in a story. Murakami is such an amazing dream weaving story teller. I’ve read several other of his books and have bought several more that are on the docket. The lucidity he manages to convey through words is amazing. Especially like you said through translation. I’d love to read his work in Japanese, but who’s got time for that?

I finished this book a few years ago and it leaves me with so many questions. It gives me this strange feeling when I think about it (which is quite often). I was so lost in the story and I remember feeling unhappy with the book when I finished it as it left so many questions unanswered. Now I look back and think that maybe I misunderstood the purpose of the book and that I wasn’t meant to know the answers to the questions, and I’m coming round to the idea that it’s an amazing book. Good video :)

I just did a video on the whole trilogy that I read at the beginning of February. So I was checking out what others thought on the books and/or trilogy and found tour channel. Interesting to see how we agreed on so many points about this book and Murakami's writing. Books and drinks, how cool is that? Subscribed! 📚🙏

Book and Drinks sounds like you have great taste! lol I checked out your video as well and we definitely agree on many of the points regarding his writing. Although I was perfectly okay with the TMI moments. I feel like Murakami doesn't feel the need to hold back on those descriptions and it adds to the realism. I could totally see how some people could be put off by it though. I've subbed back and looking forward to new videos, cheers!

@@TheTipsyTrope thanks for the sub! And yes - that TMI part was what we had different opinions on. And I usually don't have big problems with this but somehow when it was put in between Murakami's poetic writing it just somehow put mr off 😁 Although at the end of the trilogy I was kind of used to it and just ignored it. I also like your taste in books and let's meet in our next videos. P. S. I also own the physical copy of The Colorless Life of Tszukuru Tazaki and His years of Pilgrimage, so that's probably my next read from Murakami 😊 Have you maybe read that one?
@TheTipsyTrope
@TheTipsyTrope 3 жыл бұрын
I haven't read that one, but I'm currently reading The Wind Up Bird Chronicles. It's definitely different than 1Q84, very surreal and dreamlike. I plan to eventually read all his books though.

Good review I really enjoyed it. I know this was done about 2 yrs ago and I am interested in giving this book a go. My question to you is this book the complete triology, 1-2-3? Because there is another that is but it is more pages and cover isn’t very appealing>……Thank You
