I've been watching your videos for a while now. About led bulbs. But theses videos on getting your truck to start again just did it for me. I was there with you bro. I started watching your intake gasket and knock sensor replacement video. And now I saw this video. Congratulations buddy. I'm now a subscriber to your channel because of this. Looking forward to watching and learning alot from you. Thank you

Nice work. I also, ended up changing my intake manifold gasket on my 02 Tahoe at a 170K. So, yours needed to be done. We have had our Tahoe since new and have no plans of getting rid of it. Even if you did throw some parts at it, which you didn't, you have a huge cushion by doing the work yourself, so you would still come out way ahead......especially when they mark up the price on the parts 2 and 3 times cost and the labor cost. Good job on sticking with it. Can't go wrong with the support from the wife.

Man so glad to see this video. Exactly what I am doing right now. 2003 Yukon 5.3 flex fuel. My pump had been suspect for awhile and I got ahold of some bad gas and it finished the pump off. I ended up removing the whole tank and draining it, so I had to go an extra step. The part about not being able to get the truck high enough was so relatable. I pretty much did the whole job with one hand, and it was definitely a challenge!

Ouch bummer. . My Yukon pump rusted out on top I chopped a hole under the back seat. Put in a used one from the junkyard has been running good now for 4 years. GM should be ashamed of themselves all the brake lines Rust out in northern areas were there salt.

My 96 Chevy Suburban 1500 High top van has the same fuel pump. And watching you change the pump on this Silverado, l was surprised to see, they both have exactly the same fuel pump. That was a surprise for me, and finally, l can order the right fuel pump, since is being difficult to get a match just putting the 96 Chevy 1500 8cy High top suburban van only. They always gave me the wrong fuel pump. Thank you very much for the video and the instructions. You are the BEST mechanic on KZbin by far. Congratulations. 😀👌

Finally good to see you happy. Just a piece of advice try not to have low fuel in your tank like very often near the red line. Because it will help to reduce the fuel pump live. As the fuel actually keeps the fuel pump cool so having low fuel help to wear out the bearing and all that stuff.

Sir I feel ya. I changed the oil pressure sensor on my daughter's gmc yukon 5.3. I didn't use the upgrade gaskets, now bank 2 is totally dead, misfiring and everything. I got good fuel pressure, spark, but no compression in cylinder 6. I took this thing apart 4 times. I replaced the cam sensor just for kicks. I'm ordering the kit from Amazon and hope this solves the problem. At least I got a code po174, bank2 lean. Plus my shtf and ltft is running at 48 to 50 percent. Well wish me well. I thank you for the video. Very helpful.

Removing the rear driveshaft makes it much easier to remove the gas tank.Sometimes that clip the gas tank strap bolts bolt into breaks.Don't ever buy an Airtex fuel pump, these are garbage with high failure rates. The replacement plug ins with the replacement Delphi fuel pumps, were for up to 2001 GM truck applications. The plug in melted which was a common problem. The locking tabs,I throw them away since they are a PITA to get out.The plug in is in hearing a click

There no job like a job well done. I had a valve go on my 98 K1500 (Exhaust 3), so I had to get the heads off. They were cracked. I ordered new ones and slapped it together, but the job was tiresome! Cleaning the rockers, pushrods and nuts led me to a new level of chemical burns (Super Clean is a hell of a cleaner...), and trying to remember how it all came apart and went back together was tough. However, once she started up again and ran without a hiccup, I was overcome with the feeling of accomplishment. I loved it. When you do a tough job yourself and do it right with satisfactory results... there really is no better feeling. Great job, man!

happy you fixed it man! you also may want to invest in a spark tester like $25 along with your fuel pressure gauge! another thing those electric fuel pumps in the tank are cooled by fuel so running you tank too low with give to fuel pump a shorter life! generally a small to medium vacuum leak with not cause the engine not to start but i will just run poorly! i see you noticed some or the parts are different for the flex fuel trucks even some of the engine gaskets! which is impartant since the fuel with eat away the ones for the regular engine! Cheers man!

I used to stick a funnel in the tank filler neck, have an assistant tun the key to the on pos, and listen to see if its coming on.The next thing if its coming on,is gently tap the bottom of the tank with a rubber hammer to loosen up the debris usually blocking the sock, and 5 times out of ten it will start enough to get it in the garage and change the pump.

Getting it fixed is Relief! At 11:13 one of the electrical connectors looks like it has a burned connection. I replaced my pump a few years ago. The steel top of the pump assembly rotted through. PITA to replace that pump, especially the plastic tube connectors. GM should have made the sheet metal top out of plastic from the factory. The only part that was metal failed! Came up as an evap code on 05 Silverado.

Jimmy, as another viewer said, never run your veh under 1/4 tank of fuel (gas). The gas keeps the pump cool. Other wise they over heat and cook the impeller thus giving you little or no fuel to the engine.

My 97 S10 4.3L started just fine, drove it for about 20 feet. Then the engine died and would not start, had to get towed. Luckily it was an easy fix. I used an Accel cap & rotor and the cap happened to be tan instead of black. It burned thought the cap and was arching out on a nearby bolt. The cap was burt black where it failed. That cap was only a week old and they wouldn't warranty it. Never bought Accel ever since.

My 07 dodge dakota is doing the same thing. First thing i checked was the fuel pump but after ordei tested my old pump n it was still working so i was confused n i put everything back together, still wasn't working so i thought injectors and bought injector cleaner which seemed to work cause my truck started after 3 or 4 tries. I drove the truck for 4 days (even on highways) and it drive just fine but the 5th day it wouldn't start again so i go to harbor freight n get the same pressure set you had in the last video and i have 0 pressure so I'm thinking the pump is bad but when i banged it around it worked for a few days but I'm just going to replace it and hope it fixes the problem

Great video! I have a 2003 Suburban with the 5.3L Flex fuel also. I have been having trouble with “hard start” condition. Turn the key and it just turns over but won’t start. Then turn the key a second time and it starts. Connected fuel pressure gauge with key off and had 0 psi. When started 45 psi. Pressure immediately dropped to 0 psi when engine was turned off. Not smelling any gas fumes that would indicate an external tank leak. Fuel injector pressure regulator has no gas in vacuum line. No indication of injector issue with performance or OBD codes. Believe check valve at fuel pump is faulty and requires replacement. Any ideas? I think I will be installing a new fuel pump assembly soon. Thanks.
