Back in the early 90’s, 500 was the figure if you wanted to be the quickest (usually in a Cosworth) and it would be a horrid thing to have on the road. Lag lag lag lag then BOOM. It would break a lot, and would cost £££ to run. Now you can get a Golf and with just a turbo upgrade and a few other pieces, not only is 500 easy, it’s drivable. I’d say reliable too. Cars have come so far, obvious to some but it blows me away seeing vids like this. I must have sank £30k in my Coswoof in the early 90’s and every drive was potentially a £3k bill. Great vid, enjoy it 👍 Ps bit of advice don’t wanna teach you to suck eggs: 1: if you ever have a missfire, even slight - stay away from any boost until it’s sorted. 2: try to avoid full boost below 4K revs.

I got the EBC yellow stuff brake pads on my gti with the stock performance pack rotors and calipers. That's all you really need as far as braking power upgrade. Just changing the pads alone made an insane difference.

Enough for street use..but you also need braided brake lines...and upgraded fliud like rbf600 or rbf660... together with them the brake is potent for street use...but for track days.. you need more...more and more..also brake cooling, what make much more durability for the brake setup! :)

Congrats on the new power bump!! That thing is savage! The way the golf r comes onto power delivery is so smooth, but honestly that’s a benefit, this car coupled with the DSG is an animal and will walk much higher power cars on a circuit track! Sick!

I’d say finally a car mine could beat but then I remember that while I can shift quick a dsg can shift quicker. Mines 450whp mk6 gti. It’s lighter by a few hundred pounds and maybe if both were dsg they’d be similar in performance in a roll but not with mine being standard. That being said I got some stuff in the works for it, stuff that requires awd and a 9k rev limit. Stuff that requires it to be fully built from the engine to the transmission to a full custom intake and exhaust. Something that can beat pretty much any other golf in existence but I’m not telling anyone the build until it’s done. It’ll be possibly the first inline 4 golf to break the power level I’m aiming for. I got a good portion of it together but my 800 cubic inch intercooler isn’t enough so I got to do a secondary intercooler. It’s going to be a beast and I expect even with ps cup 2’s it’ll spin in 3rd. That doesn’t sound like it’s that hard until you realize it no longer has 6 gears and 3rd can get you beyond what the stock 5th gear can get you. I’m doing some hard stuff away from home but when I get back I got a few more mods to do to make the ultimate sleeper.

Kudos for building your turbo and running it! Car is coming along nicely. I watched your build and I don’t remember you installing an upgraded hpfp. If you haven’t and want more power and torque in the mid range I highly recommend you install one. Your fueling is maxed out now that you’ve upgraded from the is38. I’ve installed one in preparation for my own stage 3. It might also be time to consider stronger internals. Thanks for the great content, keep it up!

A proper brake setup will pain in his ass.. :D :D :D my has only 380Hp..and was hard to find a proper brake setup..and cost a furtune... i think if he choose MOVIT 6 pot..with 370mm that will works... still prooved it's potential on track on my friends HGP 480 R...all previous setups failed....like 8 pot oe rs3 calipers... :)

@@dennisb5319 unfortunatelly this is not easy as most thinking...golf r is a heavy car...mine is 1460kg without back seats and full tank and track setup. I.e EBC High Carbon disc around, pagid rsl2 or rsl29 front pad and ebc blue rear pad+ motul rbf600 600 and a braided brake line is enough for stage1 around 360hp...this setup on stg2 around 380 400hp is risky...or lasts less....but a proper kit is recommended... I chose IS Racing 8pot caliper with pfc 01 pads..and 356x32pfc zero failure floating disc...for stg2 380hp 490nm...and add brake duct..now i am safe all day and all night....but setup like this failed on my friend golf 7 r hgp480...he bought MOVIT system what use porsce 6pot caliper...370x34disc..and performance pads....this worked very well to him! If you have any question just let me know! 🤣

I'm loving my golf r with just an intake but this must be unreal, definitely the best sounding golf r I've heard, and a much nicer all round car than a certain claimed 600hp one that every man and his dog seems to jizz over😂😂 and also an rs3 brake set up with wavey discs would make look perfect! Try changing gear with the stick when it's in manual makes it much more of a driving experience!!
