Going to buy a 93 sport this Thursday and take it down the California coast. I used to own a 94 in high school in 2009. Im pumped! 🤙🏼

The timing chain issues occurred on later model Explorers (the second gen 4.0 SOHC's). The 4.0's in the first gen were OHV engines and are darn near bulletproof, as you've experienced.

That's good to know, I was struggling to find the exact year's or change over from engine to engine and which ones had the bad rep. Online forums can often be very contradictory places

I own one myself, and I gotta say, its been quite a monster when having to go offroad. I work as a teacher in a far away rural community in Mexico and this has been the only vehicle (that i’ve had) that has held up to driving those roads on a daily basis.

There isn't much else that offers such rugged simplicity. Some of the pickup trucks but people want them for work so they're always more expensive for their condition and some of the older Jeeps but they're fashionable so same problem. Probably my British bias but I'd love to have an old Land Rover Defender for these roads but they seem to basically not exist in Mexico.

Thanks for the video, I have a 1992, keep it well maintained, just finished fully insulating and replaced most all problems, I tightened up the steering rag joint. works great now. as for the tires blowing out, Originally Trucks were shipped with tires for one person, no baggage and wrong inflation (26lbs), And don't use that spare if it's 10 years old, it's still in the elements.

I have a 92, and fixed the sunroof leak, by using a long pipe cleaner on all 4 drains, 2 front corners and 2 back corners

I think this car has been on the receiving end of too many home made bodge jobs over the years it's too late for such a simple save. Thank you none the less

I am a proud owner of a 1994 xlt Explorer. I should give it a new home but I really enjoy it. I found your review informative and entertaining. I was puzzled by your comment about Yanks though. I see that this was made several months ago, you have most likely moved on to other replying duties.

It's the best word I can find to specifically refer to people from the USA, I'm loathe to use the word Americans for that purpose as really that refers to the entire population of two continents.

Not the dreaded leaking sunroof. My old Renault 18 sunroof used to leak on the seats just enough to give me a wet bum 😂

This was great, a classic holiday vehicle romance blossoming. One question though, why does the front track seem to be wider than the rear, and does this impact the race-like handling dynamics?
@BuckleUpShow
@BuckleUpShow 3 жыл бұрын
I don't know why the front is wider than the back but it definitely it. The K5 blazer also had this. Potentially it was ford trying to add stability on what they knew wants the most stable platform (added a bunch of extra weight heigh up on what was a truck chassis) but they didn't want to spend the money retooling a 8.8 solid axel in the rear? That is a guess though. All I know for sure is its more likely for the back end to come around than the car go into two wheels 😂😂😂

Great video, some Redneck options on your explorer Even here in Canada a standard were not too common mostly auto's . I always seemed to get them after they were well used. My current 2002 in real great shape, only one transmission swap.Couple escapes first generation in the mix as well, ever get a chance to get the rig muddy.Have a great Sunday from Nova scotia 🇨🇦, blessings 🙌.

Wrong, just depends on what area you live in whether you had automatics or manuals. Where I grew up and also where I am now the manual trans was more prevalent thank God! Autos were not very good options for a lot of folks.
