The 1st Hippie-ville short film.
Inspired and for the purpose for Gold Puffin’s stop motion competition to celebrate Gold Puffin’s 50’000 You Tube Channel subscribers. There were three themes to choose from for the competition: Friendship, Freedom, or Failure. I, inadvertently, chose ‘Freedom’. Part of the film condition was to show the number ‘50’ placed somewhere in the film, marking the 50’000 subscribers to Gold Puffin’s You Tube channel.

As an amateur Lego stop motion film maker, there are a few things in the film that will need improving on for future films. It was the first of a flying object. I experimented with a moving camera rig - to some panning success. Camera focus was an issue at times. It was the first multiple movement scenes: vehicles and people. I found that building, shooting, editing, and producing a short Lego stop motion film is best served in small increment pieces dispersed over a number of days, rather than taking on big chunks too soon. For example, for one day, build something and prep a scene, and then the next day shoot the scene - even if it’s just 5 seconds of shooting, and then the next day, edit the scene - add sounds and transitions and the like, and over a period of a week, a one minute film can be produced.
Lego stop motion is a wonderful opportunity to develop your creativity, to work out artistic problems, to approach things in a different manner, to explore your imagination, and to a greater extent, to focus and settle the mind.
Hippie-ville is a new channel that will feature more Lego short stop motion films, as well as up-coming, ‘Hippies in Space’, and there is a website is in the planning stages. Hope to see you there 😊
