As a metal head And hip hop head I think this is a poor introduction for somebody who’s relatively new to the genre, I’d recommend duality and spit it out, it’s got a hip hop feel the way Corey Taylor delivers his lyrics, also “the devil in I” is a better display of corey’s vocals as far as his time with slipknot goes. I’d also recommend the song he did with Tech N9ne “wither”

Give Pantera a listen. They’re a style of metal called “groove metal”. They’re definitely different but in a really good way. Nobody sounds like them, and they have the best metal guitar player around. The songs “walk” and “I’m broken ” are immediate stand outs. “five minutes alone” and “regular people” are great songs as well. They’re full of provocative bars as well. You probably heard they’re song “walk” before.

They do have whole songs where he sticks in the "smooth" vocal range. Snuff and Dead Memories, or Through Glass and Hesitate by his other band Stone Sour. There's something to be said for the rage of their more gritty songs, though. Sometimes you just want something to resonate with the anger inside.

Fun fact. Most metal listeners hated scream/growl vocals at one point. Somewhere along the line, listening one day, they hit you differently and eventually you learn to love them (Not specific to skipknot). A similar thing happened to me, not with aggressive vocals) but with rap. I went from mindlessly enjoying beats/cadence into having my mind blown by lyricism, skill and poetic .

Its funny cause he has reacted to Corey several times now, but it hasn't clicked. Still nice to see a rap person expand their palate.

You need to do one with the lyrics. I think it would be a whole different reaction, similar to your tool one. The words have deep meaning
