Switch those 2 upstarts for a terraforming and a chicken game? You can use chicken game to draw 1, then send it off of Rucia to draw another. Also terraforming into fountain when Hugin gets stopped

those are definitely good cards to run, but I find I always get access to both my fountains really easily, and the chicken game would just be another upstart at that point. If you have the space then defo play em, but I'm happy with my list right now lol

@@shidfard4563 thats true, its also a good rucia or rcilea send card. But you'll also need an additional runick in hand to add back a fountain if you are trying to add something else back with diabell. Definitely a good card and I'll probably try it when I can find a copy lol.

Sure! Everything is matchup dependent, however you generally won't want cards like foolish burial goods in going second. I will keep skill drain for some games and take it out for others, depends if my opponents deck hard loses to it lmao. I'll take out scourge too cause I don't need as many of the searchable interruptions going second. You can also take out a rucia if you'd like as well.

For chengying, I'd defo still make sure you are looking out for one, and maybe even order one online if you can because it is by far the best option, however if you can use chaos angel or a card called satellite warrior those are great choices as well. For upstart you could run 1 chicken game and a terraforming instead. chicken game just got released in the newest ots pack so you should be able to find one somewhere.

Really solid list, but I'm wondering how you feel about Chicken Game in the deck. It's an incredibly strong spell with the Runicks. Also, how did you feel about Metalfoes Fusion? Youre playing Foolish Burial Goods so it seems like a decent tech.

chicken game is a great card in this deck, but I don't think its mandatory. at a certain point I don't need more draw cards tbh. I feel like I draw through my deck really well already and I think having chicken game as well as upstart isn't absolutely needed, although its still a good card and I think in other peoples list I get why people play it. I have metalfoes fusion coming in the mail haha. I had some other targets in the mail too but they arrived super warped so I don't really wanna use em lol

Have you tried black goat? It's been doing pretty well for me bc it works well with chengying and is a foolish burial goods target.

either a chaos angel or a typhon. Probably the typhon tbh lol. The new azamina cards are super cool, but they don't do all that much for wf unfortunately. Like, you can play them in the deck, just not great imo. Better in decks that normally use diabellstar

I recently learned of a new deck building “rule” that basically says you shouldn’t play more than 7 playsets of HOPT cards. It’s a KZbin video by Jesse Perez called “Fix this deck building mistake that everyone makes [mathematical proof]” if you wanna watch it yourself. But in wf runick, I subbed out one slumber for one golden droplet. What’re your thoughts on the new “rule” and my substitution?

I don't agree with the rule for Runick decks in general, and much less with White Forest Runick. You're going to use Hugin turn 1 99% of the time so you can discard any HOPT cards, especially Runick spell because they just recycle themselves. Not to mention your deck draws 2-3 cards on your turn 1 at bare minimum so you're not really risking your hands being dead if you draw one or two HOPTs. I also don't agree with subbing Slumber, since it's the only Runick spell besides Tip that can use its non-summoning effect on your turn 1. It also doesn't make sense to cut the other Runick spells because they are your grind game. Overall, deck building principles are just different for Runick decks.

I don’t think it matters a lot for Runick and especially wf, because the duplicate Runick cards can be used for both Hugin and WF pitch, so they’re never really dead. I’d rather just play the good names.

Never cut slumber, it’s probably the best runick card going first other than tip. The fact that you can target your own monster to trigger fountain is unmatched. 3x slumber is way better than a golden droplet.

Its an interesting idea, but yeah I don't think that really applies to wf runick imo. You can ditch extra copies of spells for wf effects and hugin and slumber is way too good a card to not play at 3 imo. I never play droplet cause giving your opponent a draw is never something i really wanna do.

nah, chaos angel is a solid card however its not as good as chengying in the level 10 synchro slot. I've played chaos angel in this deck and I never would end up using it because chengying is just way better with this deck.

No its not needed in the runick version. I still play it at 2 in the toybox version, but you already have such easy access to all your monsters in the runick version that you don't need it.

I prefer dark ruler than evenly because drawing it mid game is terrible and drnm isnt once per turn, just my opinion and experiencenwith it

Thats totally fair. I think they will both work well, but I agree with what you say about the extra you can get out of dark ruler :)
