Larkin Poynton's ability to guide your attention in his choreography is so different compared to other group dances that I've seen. It feels almost... cinematic? Like a director guiding your eyes. It's honestly refreshing.

Larkin Poynton does it once again. Holy shit. What an ingenious use of the flashlight features on phones, so simple yet throughout the entire piece they keep switching up how they are using the lights. Honestly Chibi Unity should tour this piece around. Please bring it to New York.

Using the shadows and light manipulation in this masterpiece was just utterly SPEECHLESS. Definitely should tour around with this great abstract dance.

I am guessing Larkin came up with this masterpiece and his young dancers were able to execute it flawlessly. Blown away. Watching art unfold is truly a gift and the blocking/use of light was monumental. Forget Jrs, this could compete in the main competition. Bravo to Larkin and Chibi!

this is a masterpiece. does anyone know the statement or story behind this performance
@fogelmclovin26942 жыл бұрын
The quote at the start means it’s most likely about overcoming depression or simply hard times. Basically “there’s light at the end of the tunnel” type thing. The choreography for the most part is designed around the rhythm or melody of the song, but at 3:30 the choreography aligns with the lyrics “I’ve got to slow down” directly preceding the climax of the performance, when the lights come on and they launch the next principal dancer in the air. That principal dancer starts stumbling around in a daze. To me, the climax represents someone finally reaching the end of the tunnel, or in relation to the quote, seeing the rising sun after a long night, only to find that it’s been so long since they’d seen the light that they need to to adjust to it. Think of someone who’s come out of an abusive relationship having trust issues with future partners, or a veteran who struggles with PTSD. But that might be looking too much into it. At the very least it’s about dealing with or overcoming hardship.

I was wondering the whole why there were flashes of red...didn’t even notice the blindfolds until the end of the performance
@高橋侑珠子5期生4 жыл бұрын
Actually, it's not a blindfold. It's red face paint. Chibi Unity is from Niigata prefecture in Japan, and Niigata's famous for their Ibis birds. The white and red color's supposed to represent that. I just checked it out on their Instagram.

@allesundmehr4 жыл бұрын
I'd say that's urban contemporary, but I'm not 100% sure. you should look up the choreographer for more like this. his name is larkin poynton
@stevefalken25954 жыл бұрын
@@allesundmehr Agree, I think Larkin is one of the top urban choreo directors around. This kinda feels like it's closer to contemporary, but I'm not technical enough to distinguish it because the lines start to blur together with groups like Chibi.
