Wow, I am really impressed! Great sense of distance, good technique, speed, effective attacks on the hands and closing the line, backing up to the guard after the attack.... What can I say - it was one hell of a performance! 😄⚔

Hi, great duels! Would you make a video about your saber techniques, learning path and what source do you use?

Great fights!! gotta love the footwork. Tutorial on how to weave in and out like that would be a blast🎉

To me it looks like 5 traning sessions a week, including gym and plyometrics, and a lot of dedicated footwork training, and focus on distance and balance when training the technique / sparring :)

Great fencing, as always :) I am curious, is there any particular reason for holding singlestick tournaments instead of regular sabre tournaments ?
@jonathanyaeger228910 ай бұрын
It’s to fit with Donnybrook’s Scottish theme, allowing a more accessible form of broadsword tournament.

I would love to fence against you. Love the low position, see a couple of patterns that potentially can be used against, but I might be also mistaken.

Since you soar with sword also: is there any discernible advantage or disadvantage training with stick instead of synthetic, given the weight differences, etc. I use synthetics because I wanted a feel for the real thing, but I know the sticks are traditional; maybe I should be using them.
@wildrangeringreen8 ай бұрын
The synthetics give you a better sense of edge and edge alignment. They used to use sticks because they were cheap, available, and were easier to make safer (compared to blunt steel). Neither blunt steel or sticks nor synthetic swords act remotely like sharps in blade on blade action... so use what you can afford and what your practicing partners are willing to use, IMO. Like Sticks, the synths are easier to make safer, since they are distributing the force over a larger area (if they're the same weight/distribution) or are lighter ( if closer to blunt steel dimensions). On the edge point, the issue you run into with sticks is that it's easy to "game" the ruleset to score points (since a stick is just round), which isn't a problem if you're doing stick fighting (like Jogo du Pau (which is similar to Meyer Staff and reminiscent of longsword) or Canne De Combat (which is reminiscent of counter-point fencing, and the combat sport has heavily influenced my machete technique)), but it's important if you're practicing for backsword or saber.

Just another question about sources/system :) PS You're so fast I have trouble noticing hits at full speed, you make stick as annoying to watch as rapier! :v
