I hit the notes! First time bending number 3. Very exciting and encouraging. Much appreciation.

A big thanks Jon, this is really helping with my novice bends, when I visualise and put your advice into action, it's immediately more consistent and you have brought me another step along on this exciting journey.

Great lesson Jon. You are definitely right about being relaxed and playing from down in the throat for the great sound you get. Thanks.

Thanks Jon. I'm sure it's the little tips like these that will improve my playing when I eventually get to Jam Camp. Looking like making it in 2017.

You're brilliant John. Big thanks from Norway. I have played a little everyday since Christmas and my bends are coming on nicely because of you. Hard to get them when tongueblocking, but I need to practice alot more on that as I have mostly been puckering till now. Hopefully I could get myself to one of your camps some time in the future. Could you make a video with a few licks like the one you started this video with? You have alot of those in your videos and it would be nice to get them all in one video so I could figure them out by ear whitout searching all your videos. Keep up the good work!

Oh Yes I can take a lot of Jon Gindick especially in youtube with the visuals as well as audio on screen. I can play but class myself as a beginner. I particularly like tabs on screen of what he is demonstrating. I also like his "small-steps" technique. Thanks Jon

Hey Jon... would love to hear you play the "Do-Re-Mi" song from the Sound of Music. You would think it would be easy, but it ain't !
@jamcamp068 жыл бұрын
+airmojo I'd do that for a few thousand dollars.
@faaradar8 жыл бұрын
When you say the volume of air is about half, do you mean half of what you use for unbent note or just half of full volume of air you are capable of?

+Chuck Morrison -- imagine a pipe filled with water (or air).. Every inch pressurized by all the water. In harp playing, I suggest make the pipe half filled, so there's headroom. You can get louder, and you can get softer. Practicing and playing really softly will help you get better quickly.

Currently I am trying to perfect 3 draw double bend, I tend to over draw it alot on a C Harp and the note is flat. I get alot more accuracy on a A Harp. Any tips on this? I know it is due to the smaller reed on a C Harp and need to be accurate on the 3 draw so as not to bottom out and get the 3 draw triple bend.

+Chuck Morrison -- try making the 3d** softer than the 3d. Play smaller. Good luck.

+Chuck... try using a chromatic guitar tuner, or tuner app that shows what note you are playing, so you know when your are off or on the note you want to play... I use AP Tuner on my desktop computer... really helps !
@faaradar8 жыл бұрын
+airmojo Thanks mojo. I do use a tuner . Another tip I will suggest for others is to play the desired note or riff on a different key harp so you dont have to bend. Then go immediately to your other harp to play same riff with the bend. Your ear helps you bend the note right on many times. Thanks for the tips.

+Chuck Lee Sankey posted on his KZbin channel a great exercise across holes 1-10 on January 25, 2016... the bottom octave is the hardest part, due to all the bent notes, making it a great exercise... the other octaves are good too... Norton Buffalo had the same exercise on the middle octave on one of his tutorial DVD videos that I learned years ago... but learning the lower octave exercise is a great exercise.
