How much pain can one man hold in his heart? The way Gary Stewart sings makes you wonder. His voice conveys pain like no other. He's still one of the best country singers ever.

Gary Stewart is one of a kind. All of his songs are great and he was way before his time. Okeechobee purple was some great pot we grew. His song about that is great to..I knew him all my life. My day got him started in a place we owned called the wagon wheel in Okeechobee, FL.

Best broken-hearted drunk song of all . Gary Stewart was the king of honky tonks who only a few years back his wife died and he took his own life. He had alot of problems. He didnt only sing this song, he lived it and died with it. Rest In Peace Gary!!!

NOBODY reacts to Gary Stewart, but he was the GOAT of honky tonk music. Thanks for doing this one. Some other good ones from him are "Little Junior", "Out Of Hand", and "Your Place Or Mine". PS the George Michael song you're thinking of is "Careless Whisper". If George Michael had done honky tonk music, he would have sounded like Gary. And don't worry- we know you know what you're talking about!

I was 18 at Winn Dixie in Fort Pierce, Florida this lady walked up to me and said you have to be Vic Kneer's daughter.. now this blew me away because my father hadn't been in Florida in 16 years.. and I said yes to the lady that yes Vic is my dad.. she said "oh honey your daddy and I was high school sweethearts before he was drafted to Vietnam my name is Mary Lou Stewart".. come to find out when my dad came home a War Hero from Vietnam July 4th 1967, when he hit California he called my Uncle (his brother )Ronnie to find out where he was and he said that Mary Lou and Gary moved to Florida so he moved to Florida.. and my dad flew on to Florida and made me.. but for Mary Lou to see me and just knew that I was Vic's daughter just blew me away..My dad had away of leaving lasting impressions on everybody he ever met.. Mary Lou, Gary, my dad and my uncle were very good friends.. Fort Pierce is my hometown a very small town..

This is a super sad song, and he lived it. He was an alcoholic that had struggled with drinking and got so drunk sometimes that he couldn’t even play some of his shows. He got sober and was doing very well, and then had a lot of struggles with his life. His wife was diagnosed with advanced cancer, and passed away. Soon after, his son committed suicide, and he went back to drinking. The saddest part of this song is that Gary likely lived every lyric of this song. He committed suicide. I’m glad that you reacted to this song and that you listened to it. Stoney Larue does a very good reaction/tribute to this video.

I made an Instagram post a few years back that featured a cool pic (or at least I thought so) of a tall beer mug with a neon sign and mirror as a backdrop (I was at a bar). I used the first few lyrics of this song as the caption. My friend commented "What a sad song!". She absolutely despises country music, and wouldn't give this song a listen or chance to like it. It's nice to know you have an open mind for not only country music, but most music genres (minus opera. Not for me, either). Kudos to you, man.

I just happened up on your reaction to Gary's Empty Glass, and I absolutely think that you need to listen and react to " Colton Browns" version of and remix to Empty Glass"! I've personally known Colton for several decades, we used to work together when he was just beginning to sing and record. Colton's dad, Avant Brown, and Gary Stewart were very close friends. He, Colton and Gary spent a lot of time over the years of Colton's youth and on hunting, camping, and singing together. Colton definitely has put a personal twist into and has maintained to uphold a high level of respect to Gary's memory, while also putting his life's events and personal antics into his version (s) of Empty Glass. R. I. P. Gary, thank you for your amazing words and voice, I've been listening to Gary for over 5 decades, and I have loved , lost, cried, laughed, and danced with you in my ears for all of those years. Thank you.. So, yes... You absolutely need to react to Colton's version, please!🙏

they play this in a lot of Texas bars when the lights come on at 2AM and you gotta leave, dude's a legend, "king of the honky tonk", I'm amazed that a person is reacting to it, very cool, usually people just react to the same popular song each week, it's weird how that works out, I know sooo many great country songs, kind of a useless skill, haha, I'm a Texas guy and am always trying to get people to react to songs like this, let me know if there's anything you want to hear, like a certain style or vibe

Last time I saw Gary was at Billy Bob's in the late 80's. He had a case of empty longnecks stacked on top of his upright piano. He was off his game that night. Fast forward to this past Saturday. A local songwriter was playing originals and taking cover requests. I pitched in a $20 bill for any Gary Stewart tune and he immediately kicked off An Empty Glass. I could tell OneManReacts got a bit emotional. Gary's songs can do that to you.
