I hope I can get you a few tricks: 1) Try to take to the place where people trow out big stuff, like furniture, tables and other big trash, ask them politely if it is okay you take some of the wood or what you else need. 2) Look through the newspapers or internet sites where people sell stuff or gives away, you can even announce that you take against plywood and things like that. 3) Go out to building sites and if there is a large container for old building materials, ask if you may pick some of it up.

Good to see you again! Come to Brazil and you will find materials trowed away in virtually all corners of every street.

I just remembered: in the past our town had clean up day and we could pile it up by the street and crews used to come take it away and people could pick through it. Now people have to take it to a large building and dumpsters and pay a big fee so scavengers don't get to save anything or collect scrap metal.

We all got Your back Philip. Good luck finding Yourself in new reality, hope it wont be so much challenge as it seems to be. We're all waiting for new videos from You. Best regards from Poland.

I've had amazingly good luck on "garbage day's eve" in my Canadian town! All depends on the location I think.... Found a 125 year old WORKING sewing machine stuck in the snow, and lots of lumber and other (proper wooden) furniture too! I think it's because our town doesn't require everything to be in bins, so people put anything big on the side of the road, where I can scoop it! Good luck hunting!

We have relatives in Canada who say the same. Congrats on the sewing machine. I am sure stuff will turn up eventually.

Now during the year we CAN leave items by the curb with a free sign (if it's something good or scrap wood or metal) as long as it is not outside too long. Sort of good for people and scrappers.

This may be an awesome idea but what about sunflower stems the big sticks when you grow them you could dry them out and use them that was a thought I hope it works and many prayers for you God bless

I've grown those before- they are too brittle, hollow, and break easily.

Canada and Oz I have heard are like that :) . Here our little town is a 'lego' retirement town. I am sure stuff will turn up eventually.

Understand completely. When I was a child people used oil drums for trash and no plastic bags. Now most hidden away. Dumpster diving discouraged. Most products thrown away are not useful. I miss the old days when things were made to last and brooms had wooden handles.

Yes indeed. I did stop my mother's blender going into the trash ...all for the cost of a fuse :) Here even plastic bags are outlawed, and the streets are vacuum cleaned with a sucker truck. and they even dig holes for street repair with vacuum suckers rather than pick and shovel. its another planet, or matrix construct. ;)

@@PhilipStephens007 my town of 4000 in USA has a street vacuum truck that comes in the spring to get the winter road sand off the edges of the paving. Used to run at night but actually saw it Monday morning at 9am for the first time. Maybe they hire it done.

The back alleyways of the poor areas, will have all kinds of stuff because people don't want to pay for the costs of collection, exactly how it is in the UK here,

Our little town of 16,000 has no poor areas. Its wacky. Its a retirement town with lego type houses. Did you ever see the truman show? It is like that. Stuff will turn up eventually I expect.

You might have problems scavenging from industrial areas because it’s often illegal. :/
