[MY THEORY] this song is for buddies and we are the rain, that gfriend referring in this song. they are giving us a message saying that they don't want that there will be a rainbow, because if there is a rainbow, everything is done and finished. like eunha said "it was so beautiful like a stream of rainwater" this made me think that our love and support are very touching and beautiful to them like a a stream of rainwater. SinB also sang her part "The sound of rain was so loud that i couldn't sleep you were like the rain to me" this made me think that they stay awake because of buddies' loud cheers for them and we are the one who make them rise even if they're tired. Yuju "perhaps you are coming to me to share you umbrella. my heart is beating. is this a miracle of a summer day?" this made me think that buddies coming to them is unexpected for them, we made their heartbeats fast. "it was a shine bright moment thank you for being like a clear summer rain." and "our crystal clear story." they're like saying that they are thanking us for coming to them, that coming to them was such a shine bright moment and we are one, that we really have a crystal CLEAR story. "the future was unclear like a passing sun shower we missed each other unlike the wishes" this made me think like they are stating that our future (buddies and Gfriend) together are still unclear, that they are still gaining popularity, they still don't know what will happen in the future so its unclear and we missed each other during their long break after comebacks unlike our wishes. "don't stay short like a rainbow after the rain stops" this states that they are wanting us to not leave them shortly just like the rainbow even if the rain stops!. "it was a memory of a summer day with joy and sadness." this is stating that all our tears and joy are memorable. "if the shiny season passes, will you keep me getting wet Forever?" this made me think that, even if the shiny season passes, they are asking us if we will still keep them wet like still supporting and loving them! these are just my theories!

kpop without gfriend? I guess we are left with girls who either act rough and tough, sexy or too much cute to the point of cringe. GFRIEND literally has a different vibe from the multitude of girl groups out there. They had their own color (aura? whatever you may want to call it) and every song release, whether title or b-side track, you can really say it is them! Summer Rain is like an "only GFRIEND" song. I doubt any of the groups out there now can cover this with grace and elegance just like what they did. Even their videos are magical! Just an info about the video... it is seen from a point of view of someone who is about to cry that is why the sides are blurred. Summer Rain is a song about the sad memories one had during summer, that even at the happiest season, some can still feel melancholic. So creative... I was really glad I lived in an era where GFRIEND and the whole of their staff who worked with them existed!

I know this is a funny story, but I started to stan Gfriend because of a gacha movie (I was a gacha addict from 2018) from a gacha movie named "My Boss Is My Ex-husband" then I started to search the outro of the mini movie and started to listen to summer rain, I searched for their other songs back then and I listened to Rough, Glass Bead, Time For The Moon Night, and Fever, best times tbh
