Weeekly is SO talented it astounds me. I've been following K-Pop for over a decade, seen I don't even know how many groups debut, and the last rookie group I remember having this much talent is like... SHINee? I remember when SHINee debuted it felt like they somehow had 10 vocalists and 10 dancers in a 5 member group, and Weeekly feels the same. Maybe T-Ara when Soyeon joined and the Soyeon/Eunjung/Hyomin/Jiyeon core just had an overwhelming amount of talent. Just look Weeekly's talent, shining through this video. And then listen to their many singing covers. So good. What the heck! What makes Weeekly unique is that with a lot of idols, you can tell they are natural singers who practiced dancing enough to be an idol, or natural dancers who have trained their voices enough to be an idol, and sometimes you have unique cases where they're good at both. But with Weeekly it just seems like a lot of the members are just... good at everything? ...?!? Like Soeun for sure is a natural dancer from all that energy she lets loose on stage, but then you see her vocal covers and she has a great voice too? Jihan has the natural ability to put so much emotion in her voice but then she has that dancer feel as any Orbit should? Jiyoon can produce, sing, dance, and be goofy but also really cool all in one song? I could go on and on with other members, I mean I haven't even mentioned the leader who was only the CENTER OF MIXNINE's JUST DANCE. How did Play M get all these girls away from SM/JYP/YG? Based on their title tracks so far you can tell Play M is still trying to figure out what to do with all this talent, and I'm glad their rookie year had pretty straightforward concepts so the girls had some time to figure out what kind of idols they are. Hopefully their many rookie awards will attract some great producers and concept-creatives who can give these girls the kind of artistic framework they deserve. It can be hard for groups from smaller companies to get that but if ATEEZ can do it recently, then so can Weeekly. I realize this is super long for a KZbin comment but I've just discovered Weeekly recently and they are a-ma-zing. These are rookies??!?

WEEEKLY (위클리) (formerly known as PlayM Girls and FAVE Girls) is a seven-member girl group under Play M Entertainment consisting of Soojin, Jiyoon, Monday, Soeun, Jaehee, Jihan, and Zoa. They debuted in June 30, 2020 with their debut album ‘We Are’ which features the title track Tag Me (@Me).

From this dance cover, we could see that actually Weeekly qualified to perform “girl crush” or “sexy/mature” concept. But I think PlayM just want they grow up slowly like their sunbae Apink. They don’t want to force these young girls to perform something that maybe not suitable for their age or maybe they want to Weeekly growing up slowly. Like Apink, in early debut “I don’t know” until “No No No” they showed cutie/fairy concept. Then growth like teenagers and showed “Mr.Chu” for teenagers who started falling in love. Then move to LUV for girls who experience broken heart (?) 😂 and then this last 2/3 years they started to showed girl crush concept. So, its like butterflies who take times to grow up, but those every stages has different charm. So, lets enjoy Weeekly’s growth slowly 😊 and I believe that PlayM has prepared everything for each of their artists. Don’t compare every idol group, because actually each group has their own charm 😁

Tommy Hwang yeah thats right, thats why I said maybe their reason is because of age matter. Because some groups even though their age average also quiet young, but their agency still want they to have girl crush concept already. Just my opinion, I think because girl crush concept always take more attention, thats why some agency prefer girl crush concept even for newbie debut idols/young idols. I hope that Weeekly will grow slowly like their sunbae Apink. Even though their fans maybe just a few like Apink before, but I think the most important is long last group and they really enjoy their bonding time with fans through their songs (especially fans song that dedicated for fans, thats the best) and let their artist/idols to contribute into song making 👍🏻

when people are talking about 4th generation, Weeekly are always getting left behind and I felt sorry for those people who doesn't even know Weeekly's existence!! when it comes to vocals they are the only gg that almost all members can be main vocalist, they can pull off cute, punk, sexy, girl crush concept without trying so hard. they are funny chaotic, their visuals are just overflowing, they are full of charms. their songs are catchy enough and the lyrics is full of meanings and lastly they are not trying hard to follow the trend that most of rhe gg's nowadays are so into. Weeekly is absolutely a full package girl group and that's a fact!!

I'm not even a fan of them but seeing how they nail all their cover dances especially those of boy groups is such undeniable. Maybe they aren't the most popular rookie girl group worldwide but I can say that they have the potential to be one of the next big gg. They aren't afraid to use the "cute" concept though badass and girl crush concept are the trends rn. They are pretty good and can pull off this concept almost the same level as Twice. I just hope they would also try other concepts in the future 'cause seeing their facial expressions while covering, it's so good. I'm a Teume, Blink and Midzy btw. TREASURE AND WEEEKLY ROTY!!
