yeah, the way i do this with the 6 and 8s is to have my fingers on the holes but not in them. i usually can get around 140 with any of the house balls. a lot of that is because for the first year of bowling i never had my own ball so i got really used to hooking any of the house balls without too much issue

I like how Brent is amazed how much Packy is able to hook the ball. You can get so much more ball revolutions from throwing two fingers. I throw a house ball pretty regularly with two fingers and even when the lane is well-oiled can get a good hook out of it.

You guys are fun to watch on your fun challenges. In my bowling days, We had a guy who at times used to bowl by bouncing the ball off the cement floor and onto the approach of the lane. This is 5 pin bowling so small hard rubber balls. He bowled a fairly high score (270) doing that. Wish I had a camera at that time.

Here’s a question I’ve never considered until now: at 3:24, Brent’s ball contacts the head pin, deflects into the flat gutter, then actually pops out just enough to knock the 7-pin over. Is there an actual rule about that? Obviously, if the ball goes into the gutter and then emerges to knock pins over, they don’t count and must be respotted for the 2nd ball. But if anyone has info about the aforementioned scenario, I’m interested in knowing if the 7-pin would need to be respotted, in this particular instance.
@williamhrivnak73452 жыл бұрын
In candlepin bowling this scenario is much more common because of the hand-sized balls and they respot pins for scenarios like you described. I don’t know about tenpin but I guess it would make sense to follow the candlepin rule. Although if you’re using a 6 pound ball for a real event you’re either not going to win so it won’t matter or you’re a little kid so who cares
@phantoMpikachu2 жыл бұрын
it's okay if a pin comes out of the gutter, you'll see it sometimes where the 6 pin will fall in the gutter and pop out just to knock the 10 over (or 4 and 7 for leftys) and it's perfectly legal.
@BowlerScott2 жыл бұрын
@@phantoMpikachu right, that's straightforward. I was wondering what happens if a ball contacts a pin, deflects into the gutter, then comes out of the gutter to contact another pin.
@phantoMpikachu2 жыл бұрын
@@BowlerScott sorry for late reply but just seeing this, if im understanding correctly and you're saying it's the ball that comes out, it wouldn't count
@johncassani67802 жыл бұрын
@@williamhrivnak7345 They don’t respot pins for any reason in Candlepins, though it may have been different when pins were set manually. If the ball contacts a pin fairly, anything that goes down counts. If you throw a gutter ball with a full rack of pins, and the ball comes out to knock pins down, the rack is reset. If the same happens on the second or third ball, with pins having been fairly knocked down on a previous ball, any illegitimate pins are just not counted in the score.

You don't even have to be a bowler to enjoy Packy's videos. Brent, next time you bowl action with light house balls bring coarse sandpaper and scrrens with you and open up the thumb and fingers until you can get them into the ball, and you will bowl much better. Better would be to have a six pound ball drilled for you so you will be prepared if you ever bowl someone in another light ball challenge for money.

House balls have always hooked good for me as a one hand no thumb bowler. Just got back into bowling regularly and was looking at getting a ball but I'm kind of afraid a weighted reactive ball will hook WAY too much for me. I'm medium speed high rev averaging about 220 on house oil and afraid I'll have to switch up my natural bowling style too much and it'll throw me off.

Depends which you’re asking about, Brunswick has a lot of sub-brands. They have dots, for example, which are supposed to be straight balls, but, myself and my grandpa can make them hook (Before anyone mentions drilling can impact it, I have two dots, both drilled for straight) Then they have things like rhinos that are made as a starter ball
