1x30 Belt Grinders vs Yanagi / Japanese Sashimi Knife

Today we are restoring a Japanese Sashimi Knife with 1x30 belt grinders. Yes, you can sharpen and restore Japanese knives on a belt grinder, whetstones are not required.

Hello, how did you remove the tarnish? You mentioned scotch brite, is there a non-machine method i can use to do the same?

Good work! I think someone must have pulled that blade through a carbide V-type “sharpener”…yikes!
