14:10 It's funny-Richie mentioned this back in 2005. Not sure if we’ve taken it a bit too far since then. In today’s electronic music scene, there seems to be an oversaturation of producers and DJ's, heavily influenced by social media and its promotion of short attention spans, resulting in a flodding of tracks by various producers sounding generic. However, the truly exceptional releases, especially in the minimal genre, can still only be found exclusively on vinyl in my view - unless of course it's not even being released ... :)

It's interesting, how different their directions are now, while in fact Ricardo is still doing his thing, more or less. Great to look at both retrospectively.
@mikoleb-bt8fr18 күн бұрын
Ricardo didn't change much, but Riche was the one that caused today due to his involvement in developing technology which allowed basically anyone to call themselves a DJ. Don't get me wrong, i don't blame him but just summing the things up. I don't believe he wanted today to happen in this way, but all great things and inventions get hijacked by not talented ones sooner or later
@zerobject18 күн бұрын
@@mikoleb-bt8fr Do you mean Traktor? Most DJs (including Ricardo) play CDJs anyway, so it's Pioneer to blame, which I personally would stay away from. It's not technology, that makes people greedy, blunt, mediocre, but our weakness, playing tricks with our mind. Technology is just an impression.

Great interview, just an audio comment: You should have used a De-Esser on Hawtin microphone, and also in general a bit of De-Reverb
@minimalertvАй бұрын
thank you so much for the tips, I didn't touch the audio as the file comes from 2005, just reduced a bit the dB, this said I've checked on FCPX and the DeEsser feature is available so I'll use it to enhance the next ones, thank you again for the cool advice, merciiiii! 🌞

Villalobos is much more talented, interesting and down to earth than Hawtin. Richie has a lot of good records, but mostly from the 90s and early 2000s. Villalobos music is pure art till this day.
