[2.1] A (very) Speculative Analysis of Scaramouche

Providing he lives to see playability, I'd like to do another analysis on him later. He has such little screentime that even getting this far was quite difficult. But I do love me a good villain so fingers crossed he becomes one of our first morally questionable playable characters.

@@matheusbianquincera3104 well every plot changes through development to make more sense its also possible some of the leaks were fake or wrong they might actually have several versions before they decide during development but 2.2 probably focus on sangonomiya .. we will get new island and her story was really just hinted so far she seems to be really glorified by game ... and valued by people but we know very little about her past its kinda similar to yae briefly appearing in 2.0 ( + we get her banner + toma)

Scaramouche definitely has his own agenda. And I think a lot of it references whatever he discovered in the Unreconciled Stars event, which Mihoyo should bring back because it's proven to be such an important part of Genshin lore. Especially for players like me who played after it's release. I just feel like I've missed out on so much!

Yeah, he also seems like the type of guy to go with the flow should the opportunity present itself, but at the same time not lose sight of his original goal. I didn't play the Unrecoiled Stars event either, but i watched recordings of the story. In the event, his main goal was to study the meteorites and whatnot, etc etc, but he saw Aether (just gonna call traveller that since it's the twin i use), knew from perhaps Childe, or Signiora, or the Fatui agents (that we harrass/attack on a nearly daily basis), that Aether was so far the biggest threat and/or nuisance to the Fatui's plans. So when the opportunity presented itself when he bumped into Aether and Fischl, he decided "Hey let's play friends with this guy so I could kill him". But when Aether managed to get away, he dropped the prospect of killing Aether (for now) in favor of going back to his original agenda, which was the meteorites, since it's not like he could do much since they escaped through unconventional means (mona) and didn't really know where they went. Also during Inazuma, I actually don't think he was directly responsible for the chaos that happened there either (that was signiora's jurisdiction for the lack of better word), yes he was there bc he was involved in some way as Ashikai said, but more or less it seems like he just took advantage of that chaos for his own agenda. Once again, while he was doing whatever inside the domain, Aether came in so he tried to kill or do smth to the traveller bc "Hey oh you're here, biggest nuisance to the Fatui", but once again when Yae Miko arrived and he was given a better option, recieving Baal's gnosis, which of course was the main thing Tsaritza wanted, he left Aether alone. He could've taken the gnosis and killed him at the same time, he's essentially a prototype clone to Ei it shouldn't have been a problem, but whatever his original purpose is was clearly more important than spending his time and energy on Aether

In the cn community we call him 雷大炮 (Lei Dapao) which roughly translate to Thunder Gun. Thunder, or 雷, comes from Raiden Ei’s 雷　電, and gun comes from the gun also named Kunikuzushi as mentioned in the video

Do you guys think people can have two or more visions if their ambitions/hopes/whatever align with the vision? Ei says that she has no idea why there is no new electro vision in the past year, as it's not a simply matter of an Archon giving one to the chosen person as it has something to do with the ambition more and another secret thing--Celestia stuff. Well, when Kazuha woke his friend's vision... Kazuha's both visions shone against Raiden Shogun, and his anemo twirl was kinda infused with electro--In fact, the Shogun was more shocked to the visions elemental effect (I think) than got knocked back (just a tiny bit) by a mere human, or both. Doesn't this just mean one person can actually have more than one ambition which can acquire more than one vision? I mean, it's logical isn't it? I mean, do you think we'll see this play out in the storyline later? Or am I way off?

Can the opposite happen? The vision you have will fade away. According to archon quest it is shown that so it seems logical that the vision you already have might go away while the owner is still alive. Or does it stays lit up all the time and becomes a regret or something. There is one npc who had a vision but gave up the vision and was happy and didn't experience any kind of losses as shown in 2.0 ayaka story quest(i am not sure of this npc and if what i am saying is right. He is a found in liyue fishing near the tree hotel, only in commission i think)

This is so interesting and I have a feeling we’re gonna be learning a lot about scaramouche in the upcoming months. Now I need to point out something unrelated that’s been nagging me. Scaramouche taunted the Traveler, and this is the first time we’ve seen them become “corrupted” (in a sense) by something. The Traveler is usually the one who cleanses and purifies, so it was really interesting to see that scene. I’ve been trying to think of why it hurt him, but I haven’t gotten too far yet. :(

Maybe because the energy in the air was from a divine being? The corruption in the air was from an ancient God's wrath. The other times where I remember Traveller purifying something was with Dvalin and the sword in the 1.2 update concerning Dragonspine. (Correct me if I forgot something) The reason for both these corruptions was because of Durin - Dvalin consuming the corrupted blood and the sword having powder made of Durin's remains all over it causing both the things to fuse if I remember it correctly. Durin just so happens to be a dragon corrupted by the Alchemist Gold. Therefore Durin's corruption would be different from the ancient God's wrath. I hope this made some sense. TwT This was just what I thought.

Xiao’s karma is also divine wrath, and it even spreads and corrupts other things, although, it doesn’t corrupt the traveler. Maybe it has something to do with their state of mind?? Because it only started to take effect on him when he got angry. But then shouldn’t he be able to resist it’s effects? Interesting…

Reasons I think Scaramouche has a high chance of being playable: As Ashikai pointed out the JP VA is famous and without a doubt expensive. Ei has a voice line about him. Not much to go of off to but if you consider that all other characters who have voicelines about them will be playable someday (Varka, Ayato, Arataki Itto and Heizo)Yeah. Most importantly why I made this comment in the first place (bc no one is pointing this out). His design. He's wearing shorts and has no clothing obstructions at the front. If you've noticed this is done with playable characters to avoid clipping when running or gliding with the character. This is something I noticed as someone who does 3D modeling.. I never believed Signora will be playable because of her skirt, the piece at the front reaches to the floor and would clip all the time if you do anything else other than walk with her. So unless she comes back to life with an outfit change it's unlikely she'll be playable. Now it's certainly not impossible to make it work but that piece of cloth will require extra rigging to make it move a certain way. Hence why it's smarter to just not design a costume like that

In the end of the archon quest Yae tells us “After Ei created her puppet vessel, she no longer had anywhere to put it.” So apparently the shogun is unable to use the gnosis or house it compared to venti and zhongli. So if he is going to use the power of gnosis, I’m not sure it will be on himself.

The video went from "great" to "perfect" when you started analyzing Bohemian Rhapsody and I stopped breathing (P.S. "Bismillah" just means "in the name of God" and nothing else. It's *usually* followed up with "ar-Rahman ar-Rahim," which is "the most gracious, the most merciful," but that second part is omitted in the lyrics of Bohemian Rhapsody, so it only means "in the name of God." Fittingly, I'm sure Scaramouche doesn't view the gods as gracious and merciful. :P)

Was thinking that maybe constelations are more like roles in a play than destiny, so when a new person that can take the role is ready a vision will manifest, binding that person to the role they are suposed to play, that way just a certain amount of visions would exist, maybe Scaramouche as an immortal or at least with his long life could have seen similar people get binded to the same constelation when the previous owner dies or is no longer fit for the role, was thinking of this since jean's constelation feels inherited, same as kazuha using his friend vision, he for a second wanted to challenge the lightning and for a second he played his friend role. As for lenard constelation maybe it was no longer sustainable since a mountain as big no longer exists so the constelation for those who challenge the mountain is no longer viable, or lenard did conquer it an all other mountains by creating the wings, so it fell from the sky since ir cannot be inherited anymore.

To be quite honest, I think Scaramouche doesn’t want to take Inazuma from Ei or to serve Shneznya’s archon (I’m unaware of how to spell her name, so we’ll leave it at that). His goals are his and he doesn’t plan to follow anyone else’s. Scaramouche may go along with the plan of Shneznya’s god for now but at the end he plans to double cross her and do something with Ei’s gnosis that we’ve yet to figure out

Love the theories, as always. One synapse that fired for me: "eccentric wanderer" reminded me that orbits have eccentricity. And comets are 'wandering stars' in highly eccentric orbits. Eccentricity, in this case, being the deviation from perfectly circular. Perfect like eternity, unlike prototypes. Also, big round hat. With the Sky and Constellations being such a key thing for Scaramouche, I wondered if that might be relevant.

Honestly I thought that genshin doesn't have that good of a lore and didn't care about it much. But after watching a video or two of yours i did find myself intrested, I still did think that you are just overthinking things but to my surprise you were pretty much all correct!! Even though the archon quest was poorly executed and just felt like the other ones, the little details that you talked about really made me enjoy the characters and the story itself. It's nice to see that MiHoYo actually uses this little details and it's not always just overthinking I myself am interested in theorizing things! Stellar vid! I had the same reaction as you with Scaramouche. To me, it came off as that he was surprised at the Traveler's reaction of anger that they were handing out Delusions. Because from Scaramouche's point, while they had their own motives for escalation, he was providing an opportunity for soldiers to make a difference and be more relevant. It's the argument as old as time. Is the pharmacist, drug dealer or weapons dealer at fault for handing them out respectively? I mean, Scaramouche didn't force anyone to take it up nor did he force them to activate them. He merely provided the chance to be useful or profitable. The one thing we can blame him, is for not disclosing the consequences from prolonged usage. But it was up to the individual to choose to use them. A positive example is Diluc's father. By taking up the delusion and having it on hand provided him the opportunity to protect his family. He was begrudgingly relieved that it was even an option. I imagine any good parent would gladly relish the chance in a similar situation. Because without it, at best the parent/guardian would have died knowing their family will follow and at worst they would have had to watch the death of their kids...
