The correct answer is c i.e both together can be true because if we consider no. of children older than 5 = x then total chocolates for x children are 5x and x can take multiple values as 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 so x(no. of children older than 5) cannot be determined statement 1 is insufficient and same as the statement 2 is also insufficient as it doesnt talk anything about no. of children older than 5 Now if we consider y = no. of children 5 or younger then considering both statements the equation becomes 5x+6y=43 only x=5 and y=3 can be positive integer for the equation thus both are used to determine the x value

Option A as 43%5=3 so 3 children are younger (3*6=18 choclates) .. rest choclates=43-18=25 so rest 5 are older so first sentence is enough
