Avicii committed suicide right at the height of his career, Riki reminds me of him. When I read the statement that was written by Avicii’s it made sense both artist experienced the same emotions and feelings. “An over-achieving perfectionist who travelled and worked hard at a pace that led to extreme stress. When he stopped touring, he wanted to find a balance in life to be happy and be able to do what he loved most - music. He really struggled with thoughts about Meaning, Life, Happiness. He could not go on any longer. He wanted to find peace.”Avicii’s Family statement Riki wanted to find peace Thats it. Major/severe depression its “the devil” its not easy wrestling your thoughts everyday; and you have to depend on pills “happy pills” to find balance and function better. All you want its peace, break free or runaway from your body and how do you achieve that …suicide. Let us respect him and his family, whether he had financial problems or not, thats not our business.

I experience it too. It feels, inevitable, it's like everything you do including taking those mood stabilizers, sleeping pills, following routine, psychologist visits, it's all to delay the countdown. So you start making rash decisions, short term pleasure things, including self sabotage whether it's drinking or not showing up to work/lectures or cutting people who care about you off. People have different ways of this. The joy of looking forward to the long term dreams gets slowly stripped away and it's like a sinking hole. Your life becomes something you slowly lose presence in, you fight, but nonetheless the things you do start to feel less & less genuine. Then once the fuel runs out, your tank is empty, at this stage anything can take you down. Small things tick you off. It's just terrible. I don't know where his comes from, but mine comes from 12 years of bullying in school & pretty much, having no strong foundation at home. I thought I got past that because I finished school, moved out, went to varsity & did what needed to be done, but now the demons are catching up with me. Rest in Peace, I know that you fought. 🕊

Man, I'm a fan and I'm telling artists to say, "fuck fads and fans who love it". Fuck that "wave" shit. We need authenticity (do you). I don't listen to club shit, I hear it in the club and I'll dance. But I am drawn to viscerality, to emcees who just pour their souls and hearts out on a record. That's why my favourite emcees will always be Pac, DMX and Em. Those motherfuckers saved my life in a way (I have had four suicide attempts due to clinical depression). I would put their records on, ball my eyes out and leave at least a bit relieved coming out of that room ("Slippin" by DMX is my joint for life). I'm of the belief that if an artist becomes a friend of the fan (through telling their truth in an honest way, in any way they see fit on a record), they become a distant yet intimate friend of the fan. That fan will fuck with you for life. That is how you maintain a fan base that will support you forever (even posthumously). I love human artists, I don't like celebrities (I'm not a celebrity and like that dude who looked into Riky's eyes, I see so many artists in pain but trying to keep the facade in interviews. It shows). Peace and love to Slik (you're a fucking idol of mine) and to Riky too ✌ Love from the WC.
