@@springsy516it’s mainly because Lego prices their sets so high in the first place, and they then make a figure exclusive. This means that there may be people in the second hand market who want this specific figure, and there will always be someone who is willing to pay a high price. Once this price is paid, other sellers sell their figures for a similar fee, and when compared with how a certain figure is no longer produced, this makes it more exclusive and expensive, driving the aftermarket. It’s a pain in the ass when you fall into it late but some figures that are made today I can guarantee will be worth a lot in ten years or so.

Because people are willing to pay those prices for the minifigures, the price keeps appreciating over time. Some of them are also rare, so sellers can sell them at higher prices because there are very few on the market, and the demand is higher than the supply. But I understand it can be unpleasant for people who enjoy Lego and aren't in it to collect expensive minifigures.

Yeah I feel you, when I was younger I really wanted to get the Republic Attack Gunship 7676 and the Clone Walker Battle Pack, but never got them. When I got older, I ended up buying both though, so you can always do that.

The Jabba’s Sail Barge UCS set is amazing. I did a review on it on my channel and was overwhelmingly positive about it. Its got an amazing batch of minifigs and the build is extremely fun. If you don't have the set you should consider it.
