Think you're being a bit OTT with the stairs, in one shot there's a set of stairs going off to the right. That's also set back from the edge of the pillar, if you took both first steps to the edge they would butt against each other and that would look really odd 😳

My Thai mother-in -law or Thai nephew slept inside while construction was going on since our place was also a bit isolated. (1km from the village on a dead end soi). Fortunately, since living in the house for 4 years no break ends but a few of my garden tool’s went missing. I now lock them up.

I live in Ban Khok Muay. For our farm we bought small offgrid system 1 year ago in Nongbua Lamphu with 6 panels and 4 off 12v-200 amp batteries. This is enough for us for lighting, 2 fridges, few fans and use of a watercooker few times per day. The supplier was fair and has good service.

I really like the railing. We had one put in and it’s shit. They welded it on site and didn’t bother to cover the tile floors so we have burn marks from welding. He didn’t understand why my head popped off my shoulders when I saw him burning my floor. House is looking great!

Maybe get builder to pad out the pillar at the back with wood battons, plaster board and a bit of skim then at least the gap will vanish and it will look more aesthetic. House is looking great shouldn't be much longer now.

Hey Ben, I know exactly what you mean by working in the heat, been doing it myself in the garden here for 6 months, I've lost loads of weight too, I pushed myself through the hot season and glad I did now, hard though. One thing (and you will probably know this) makes sure you are replacing your salts with how much you are sweating, I started getting really bad cramp some days and obviously you don't want cramp while swimming in your pond. I take rehydrate powder supplements but also proper sea salt is good too. All the best 👍 Also with the stairs I think they have to start the measurement from the top, but don't worry about it, it looks great.

I totally agree with you regards the steps and it would annoy me also. I'm currently having a complete new kitchen and bathroom fitted, including brand new plaster boarded/then plaster skimmed walls & ceilings. Imagine my disappointment to find out a bathroom wall and kitchen ceiling have been done way out of line, not straight 😢 Noticeable with the naked eye easily and when checking with a spirit level, miles out 😢 I don't understand builders with no common sense, no standards.

A “family member” was given the job to lay floor tile in the outdoor kitchen area. On the second day he didn’t line up the “grid lines” to match the first day’s floor tile. What a “no-brainer” that you would NOT match the symmetrical pattern.

What visa would enable me at 55 years old to live in Thailand, my girl and (she’s Thai) are going to build outside of chaiyaphum.
@LifeinThailand777 Жыл бұрын
As far as I’m aware you have two options - retirement visa or marriage visa. Both are very similar in as much as the initial application is a lot of paper gathering and photocopying documents etc. But each year there after, the renewal process is MUCH simpler. Main difference in the two visas is the amount of money required to be sat in your thai bank account. For marriage visa you must have 400k baht in your account. For retirement visa it’s 800k baht. There is also an option to show a monthly amount coming into your account, rather than a lump sum sat there. I think that amount is 40k per month for marriage visa. I don’t know the amount for retirement visa. I hope this helps. Basically it’s money versus marriage 😅

Probably the best thing to do is visit different areas of Thailand, and see which feels the best to you. It’s a vastly different country. I enjoy Bangkok every now and again but I wouldn’t want to live there. The very north of the country is also extremely beautiful, but it’s a long way from anywhere. I’m in the northeast, it’s rural and quiet enough for me but only 1.5 hours to a large city (in case I really want a McDonald’s or a cool shopping mall) 😅

Now that you mentioned the outside staircase, I have to ask, is that going to be an open-air staircase? I was thinking the first time you showed it, that the walls or glass was going to encase it? Open air would scare me for either falling off it or wild animals would climb it.

You are living in Thailand too long if you think that those pastries are donuts. We will bring you and your wife a proper donut (the fried cake made of dough in the form of a ring) if we ever get in the vicinity. The Thai call the filled balls you were eating kahnnom kai hija or kahnnom kai hong. They do taste very nice and aren't as sweet as most Thai pastries.
