I love the new "get X if you collect food at full hp" gimmick this patch has introduced. It's a great way to reward skill (not taking damage) without punishing you for having a backup plan if you do take damage.

It seems like the harvest material gain happens before the fruit gave you harvesting. I guess there is a small optimal play to eat the fruit during the round.

Gotta say, tentacle seems really dang good. There were a few times during the run where I was surprised at how fast you were healing when not picking up food, and that would be down to having 100% crit and a bunch of tentacles

I think you should pick up the fruits before the wave ends, because you get the harvesting from it instantly and it will count for that round, or am i wrong?

I think technically min/maxing would be trying to pick up every fruit before the wave ends so you get the bonus materials and the bonus increase, but it’s a tiny improvement.

Ooooh, a small amount of positive range on fast attack weapons, AND full crit, AND a little speedy, is so satisfying to see. That little bit of luck on top of the godly harvesting to get a BUNCH of great items? *chef's kiss*. Dang, that was a fun one to watch. Thanks so much.

It is actually better to collect the food during the run. Your percentage increase applies first and then u pick up the leftover food. In this order the leftover food doesn't get the benefit of being increased in the exactly same wave. If u pick it up I get the increase immediately. It might seem not that much but it will add up by a lot.

The thing with harvesting runs is that they scale very well late, but you have to greed hard in the early game to make the most of them. So on balance, you start off fairly underpowered, but you hit that point, usually around wave 12-14, and suddenly it's off to the races as long as you play well in the rounds.

I had a farmer run 2 days ago where I had hunting trophy on wave 6, improved tools on wave 7, and crown on wave 8.... and then I died on wave 10 lol.

Endless is a bit disappointing for those who haven't tried it, there is until around wave 30 where the shop cost scaling stops you from buying anything, around 35 you die pretty quick, seem to get less money also, harvesting starts decaying 10% a wave.

One thing about picking up food during the run: it increases Harvesting immediately, meaning you benefit from it at the end of the run. All the food that comes to you after the round ends happen AFTER Harvesting is procc'd, as far as I can tell. It's not a huge benefit, but it's something to note, especially early when a few extra material is percentage-wise a bigger deal.

I don’t know if this is beta still (back log) or live patch, but I do believe the special structure item does apply to things like Landmines and Gardens. Had a sick Cyborg run with it last night where my legendary screwdrivers were spawning a landmine every second. Lol

In endless mode, you lose any harvest increase, and it instead decreases by 10% each wave, which makes sense and is also very sad at the same time.

Hey retro, I have a character recommendation that I honestly wanna see, it's kinda hard to explain but basically, like a mmo character, you would start with the 2handed sword (purple or orange rarity), have no material drops (if possible or just have shop items expensive as all hell) and make it so you get like 500% more exp, so your leveling is what builds the run and not items, just a suggestion though if you or someone you know can code it, or if you even find it appealing. I am not positive how the game works in its entirety but would it be beneficial to get the food prior to the end of the wave to add to the 3% increase at the end of the wave, i am also writing this mid run so idk if you address this during the run.

Something funny that I found out is that if you get enough life regen and Blood Donation, it is gonna pull the consumables, and by the time they reach, you're already full health and they will give you the benefits It is genuinely a good idea to get if you can manage that

I just started playing this game the other day and I tried this strat after JUST getting the farmer and hot damn it really is OP once you get going. Just gotta get all your pruners going early then get your HP and attack speed up. Other stuff helps but maan oh man. Killed the boss in like 10 seconds on wave 20 on difficulty 1. Probably gonna try to unlock other difficulties with this strat.

You should do an Endless run and just go to 30 or so. The boss waves get a little crazy after 20.

Maybe it would be busted if it were Support/Precise, but it does make sense for it to be Precise. When you prune a plant, you’re not just hacking and slashing random pieces. You want to prune with a purpose.

I feel cheated because you only get horde waves until 14 when you get an elite with absolutely no hordes and no charges, and those are the levels that always kill me.

Yeah I think it's just okay early game, but by wave 8 or 9....it's pretty much over with. You're getting so much harvesting that you'd have to really try hard to lose at that point.

you where lvl 33 on wave 20 and lvl 36 at the end of wave 20. it seems like the harvesting gain curve is steeper than the required exp per level curve. that means the amount of level ups per wave increase exponentially, which means infinite stats for endless :)

XP required grows quadratically, harvesting grows exponentially (which is faster). That is why they have to turn off harvesting in endless mode or you'd be getting more and more level ups each wave and it would get absurd.
