You know, one thing they could add to this is sometimes sharks are on the hooks having eaten the fish on the hook!!!

For anyone looking to but this game now. The longline fishing seems to be updated, lot easier to hook the fish. The autopilot works. Just plot your course on the map, turn it on in 1st person view, or press P. Looks like fishing don’t give you any form of xp, I think you should at least get some xp for the distance travelled. Haven’t got much further than that.

And you can sell stuff from your inventory, just go to the store where you bought the jig and hook.

I used a macro to bind to one of my mouse button, left click every 25ms for Both click down and click up. I just aim at the line and it able to hook

Here in the UK, it’s pronounced just the same way that you said it first - pollack/pollock as in bollock.

as for hock in big fish, not small ones, they enter the catch and join the boat without huck all fish

I have caught fish out of season so do not think seasons are switched on yet. Anyways seems like you have got better! It seems like when they are past the initial water level they are harder maybe because you need to be back for those. Oh and I had one line where I got them all and it was a big haul so there is a compromise big reward for being harder? Halibut is currently the richest catch.

Fish and seasons may not necessarily be the fact that they are sparse or plentiful but rather the management of the fish population to ensure its not fished out artificially.... when "in season" it maybe that its legal to fish them during that time (hence you throwing them back or ignoring them when hooking them)..... thats the only thing I can think of... if not, its a bug :)

ya know, someone mentioned that the message box that keeps flashing while your hooking, might be a "trigger box" blocking you, and the game isnt letting you get close enough or in position to properly hook...

I can't drop lines. Says out of fish habitat. Driving in and out does nothing. Older save, so it probably broke. Think im gonna wait some more before playing.

Yeah I have had this issue, what I usually do is set a marker the centre of the habitat, than another marker 6klm out from it and I save before I hit the marker. I think anywhere from 5 to 6klm and you enter the habitat. Did you load while in a habitat already? If so go out away from it or rescue to Rost and head back out.

if you catch a fish out of season in real life you would have to throw it back. so maybe an animation for out of season fish to be thrown back.

you wouldn't gaff a fish in real life if it was out of season so maybe that's what they were going for with all the misses. they need to add at least a pop-up message to explain this if it's true.

I can't wait till they get this game smoothed out. That water looks good, but for some reason the splashes off the hull of the boat don't look right.

They look like the splashes you should get when the hull comes back down after hitting a wave. But it splashes like that 100% of the time while in motion. Also clips through the hull when in first person.

i think you only need to catch the biggest fish with the hook.
