I play 2.6 and Im trying to max it. What I first maxed was the musketeer and the canon. After that I think you sould max the golem and your spells. Then the hog and Finally the skeletons and the ice spirit.

i have fought that rg matchup a couple of times and almost seems impossible to beat, like miner wb.. eq ezily destroys cannon and then you have nothing left to kill rg with.. and then the heal spirit comes up healing it up
