ALL 3 brands need to be better at their quality control. If they're gonna demand these prices and expect us to consider all these failures as the new "norm," then I hope they all go bankrupt. Cat said that the 858 motor wasn't ready last year so they delayed the release - which I respect - but if this is their idea of "ready" then I've got news for them. And why so many Cat guys in the forums and FB groups insist on making this some sort of unicorn sled is beyond me. "iT'LL kEeP uP wiTh tURbO R's..." No. Dude. It won't. And is one specific camp ever gonna grow up? There's a certain brand of riders that are *completely* incapable of shutting the fuck up. Can we just enjoy our sport/hobby, look out for one another and enjoy our times we have?? JFC...
@thomasfenske162020 сағат бұрын
To be fair it’s hard to make an engine last long when it spends it’s whole life at 8000rpm, but I agree the prices are insane
@208SledHead20 сағат бұрын
@ You’re not wrong. Not in the slightest. I guess what I’m referring to are things like the Polaris clutch bolt issue, the chain cases on the Doo’s, the exhaust springs and power valves on the Cats. Little shit like that where it can leave people on the mountain. That type of shit is inexcusable to me.

pallet bridge tip #2 - tie the pallet bridge to a tree each side of creek and make one end of the rope weaker rope -- this allows spring runoff to break one side and the pallet bridge just swings to one side with the current --- otherwise the entire bridge could be swept away in spring -- the 2 strengths rope trick helps you get several years use out of the same pallets -- in the fall go up on a Quad and reposition pallets before the snow flies

@Muskoka Freerider - All of the issues you've experienced with the cat have happened to everyone on the blue 858.....I think you're through them all now. The power valve cable hangs up at the bracket......there's a rod on the end of the cable that gets hung up thus the power valves don't open. A slight bend of the bracket (to straighten the rods entry) and/or some teflon lube does the trick. You figured out the spring sound....last is the rubber seals in the bulkhead by the front shocks. Redrill those and put plastic push pins in for a better water tight seal. That cat will shred now.

I sure wish my dad woulda kept riding. He sold all the sleds n trailer back in like 2008 or 2010. He started riding back in the 70s when ya had to learn how to ride the ancient relics the hard way😂 they didn't have riding clinics and lube tube😂 im pretty sure he wouldn't understand what these new sleds are capable of😂 ive watched the ol jerry take a old yamaha phazer short track and out climb the new back then powder specials 580 long tracks. He would kick me off n say watch this. Back when the grab bar was a handle for us kids to hold on to. Sorry I rambled. Brings back good ol memories.

Another great vid. Good to see your dad & brother out ripppn. Almost makes me feel I could hit those hills. What causes the rollers to blow? To much heat?
@matthewb77402 күн бұрын
They can break from slamming from forward to reverse. In reverse the rollers don't have a ramp to go up so they hit the end of the helix. If you give it too much throttle when switching to reverse they hit the end of the helix hard enough to break them.
