Thanks brother Jesse. I feel so dumb for having had relearned so, so, so many passages in the Bible because, as I have said before, legalism in my past in lordship salvation messed up everything. It has been so painful to change my mind about these things, from self to Christ, from legalism to grace in day to day living. God is good and never ceases to be but I am so amazed of His grace. I have been just grinding my teeth against Him lately in my anger. My background has affected me so badly that the past 2 years have been a big wake up call for stop obsessing about myself and focus more on Christ by faith. I ain't saying any of my anger has been justified but I am sharing this that all who would read my comment would STAY AWAY from these wolves, legalists and calvinists, and holiness pentecostals, out there because it brings more pride, less faith, you are elevated, Christ in your life is lessened. Jesse is spot on here. This lip service calvinistic examination of real faith by works ain't anything else but lip service to faith by pharisees who wanna boast about your FLESH. So focus on Christ and His Word, not one's self. I cannot emphasize this enough: Bibleline is one of the few channels on KZbin that actually preaches the TRUTH about Bible. I agree with what your overall point is, and I agree that it means ongoing sanctification. I do think that preachers like John Piper, Macarthur, and Washer try to nail down the point that a lot of people miss when it comes to Jesus: is genuine faith. Paul and James echo this as well. I feel you and I may be saying the same thing in this lol. But I just wanted to come in agreement with how you saw this passage to mean the ongoing sanctification. I do agree that preachers could do a better job with the works vs faith sermons for sure and there are many false teachers out there. But personally, I don't think washer, Macarthur, and Piper are one of them. They describe Christians needing to have genuine faith in order to start the sanctification process. And I do not necessarily doubt my salvation much, but I recognize I am not perfect, and at times I can question God's plan. This is such an intriguing topic. I am writing an essay right now in my epistles class on this verse and the surrounding verses. Love you brother. Keep sharing Christ to the lost!

Those men make statements like this: "No fruit = no root." "No works after you believe = you never had faith; you aren't truly saved." "If you practice/habitually/willfully sin after you have believed, then you aren't genuinely saved." The truth: Jesus died for all sin. My faith in him ALONE is what saves me. The works I do thereafter may make me out to be a more genuine person/disciple for Christ, but those works simply profit men. God has already justified me into eternal life. I possess eternal life RIGHT NOW because I have believed in Jesus Christ as my Savior. Any amount of works I do thereafter ARE IMPORTANT, but they are not important with regards to my salvation. They would be important in this scenario: I choose to open my mouth to share the gospel = profitable to others! I choose to keep my mouth shut = unprofitable to others. God still sees me as justified, but what have I done by keeping my mouth closed? It is a shame of course... - Trent

Thank you for clarifying 2 Corinthians 13:5 . Correct me I if am wrong but it is my understanding 5 point Calvinist do not believe there is such a thing as a carnal Christian . Hi brother ❤️🙏 how do I explain to someone that "(they will know that they are Saved)" What if it is a obsession they have with keep questioning their own Salvation and is having trouble with assurance. Is it like what the Corinthians did with Apostle Paul out of conviction or guilt by seeing there short comings / sin so they question Paul's Salvation / Faith ? What if that believer can't remember when she or he was first Saved but now is in spiritual bondage from calvanistic teaching, Lordship salvation heretical teaching, or the occult ? What should I tell them especially when they are holding on to so much guilt that they believe Jesus saves but they feel that they made a very bad mistake recently (the occult) that they are not Savable or block from getting saved . Sometimes I want to give my testimony to others but which it might be the same as I went through but I don't know how to express it . Thank you for your ministry brother ❤️🙏. GOD Bless you.

That’s a good question. This answer may seem simple or basic, but it’s the truth. The person needs to know to accept and lean on the facts of the scripture. Here are a few: 1) Faith alone in Christ alone saves - Gal. 2:16, Rom. 3:24-28, John 3:15-18 2) Believers are born again into God’s family - John 1:12, Gal. 3:26, Eph. 1:5-7 3) Believers receive the Spirit, and they keep it until the day of redemption - Eph. 1:12-14, 4:30 4) We know we are saved by the initial faith - 1 John 5:10-13 That’s a few. 2 Corinthians 13:5 "Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Christ is in you?" The old story of Eyes and No-Eyes is really the story of those who walk in Spiritual Truth/Christ Consciousness and those who don't....!! "No-Eyes" has fixed his attention on the fact that he is obliged to take a walk. For him, the chief factor of existence is his own movement along the road; a movement which he intends to accomplish as efficiently and comfortably as he can. He asks not to know what may be on either side of the hedges. He ignores the caress of the wind until it threatens to remove his hat. He trudges along steadily, diligently; avoiding the muddy pools but oblivious of the light which they reflect. "Eyes" takes the walk too: And for him it is a perpetual revelation of beauty and wonder. The sunlight inebriates him, the winds delight him, the very effort of the journey is a joy. Magic presences throng the roadside, or cry salutations to him from the middle fields. For Example: Genesis 2:4 "These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the Lord God made the earth and the heavens" This is a symbol of stepping out of Divine thought into Human thought, and the most important verse in beginning the Development of Spiritual Discernment. *God/Spirit "CREATED" the Heavens and the Earth in a 7th Day Perfect Consciousness in which Heaven(Omnipresence) is the Activity of Truth in the Consciousness of all Spiritual Beings, making the Spiritual Body of Earth a Playground for the Experience of the Spiritual Body of "Christ" or God Consciousness.... *The Lord God(world mind/mortality/finite body)"MADE" the Earth and the Heavens, and this places the Activity of Truth in the material world of the senses. This is a turning away from God, from OMNIPRESENCE! This is Atheism! The bible is quite subtle in its message because it was written for those who exist in the Spiritual Kingdom of God Creation. Very few are able to grasp this, hence the reason the message of the Illumined has been accepted as religious beliefs!! Through the many characters in the bible we are given the difference between what it means to accept Immortal Spirit as Reality, or accept Finite Material World Mind Consciousness as Reality! Flesh and Blood are not of God, but of the imitation of God! Of the False Sense of the World Mind! MATTHEW 7:13-14 "Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, that leadeth unto life, and few be that find it." Which part of this Scripture sounds like a belief in religion or science based understanding, the wide gate that the overwhelming majority of people on Earth accept as truth, that leadeth to separation, destruction, hatred, racism, jealousy, judgement, lack, imprisonment, illness, evil, etc, that hasn't once Demonstrated the Reality of Spirit/God as Truth, as the Perfection it is.... Or the strait gate, the narrow gate that is the Acknowledgement and Acceptance that SPIRIT/God as the only Presence, therefore I(Spirit)and My Father(Spirit) are One, that leadeth to life everlasting, and Grace as thy Sufficiency?? Nothing of the material world is of Spirit/God. Therefore, why Interpret Spiritual Manuscripts such as the Bible, Bhagavad Gita, and the Quran through a Material Thought Process? I wouldn't, and neither would Students of Mysticism for whom they were originally written! Where everything appears to be, only Spirit/God is!! The Cornerstone of the Christ Teaching is that Spirit/God is the Only Presence, not to worship Jesus the illusory form that is nothing and can do nothing of itself!! Therefore, to Be Reborn is to Overcome the Belief of a Human Birth, and Accept Spirit as the Only Presence! What is not of Spirit is not of God, and in turn is not reality....!! Is it possible that people that doubt there salvation because of lordship interpretation would by default not have faith in Christ and therefore not be saved? It could be that the saved must know there are always saved and this is actually faith/trust/belief in Christ sacrifice. 😢

Just as a heads up: MacArthur and the Lordship Salvation view is not consistent with the confessional reformed view. MacArthur is Calvinistic, but he does not hold to a historic confession and is therefore not representative of reformed theology. I recommend reading Michael Horton’s book, Christ the Lord, for the historic reformed take on this issue.

A backslider would be a saved person that was serving, then they stopped serving the Lord. They’re still saved because they believed in Christ to be saved. Israel was referred to as backsliding Israel, but they are still God’s chosen nation. - Trent

Made up terminology for the doctrines of repent of all sins. If your not repenting then your backsliding. It's like a juggler that must never drop a ball because then he's not a juggler anymore. Pick up the ball again and juggle but beware, you better not drop the balls anymore even though all jugglers nomatter how good will eventually drop the ball again. There is no such thing as a perfect juggler!

Salvation and Discipleship are two totally different things. Salvation is a one time event you are Sealed with The Holy Spirit at that very moment until the Day of Redemption you Believe in Jesus Christ for Salvation believe in The Gospel of Jesus Christ His death burial and resurrection. Salvation is a Free GIFT from GOD and not earned by man through works lest any man should boast. Discipleship is costly and will cost us everything. we strive to be good but not be saved. We cannot lose our Salvation ever Once saved always saved. That's the difference between Salvation and Discipleship. But doing works/ good is not evidence of being saved . If a believer is not living a upright life doesn't mean their not saved but definitely they will receive The consequences/ discipline from GOD. My question is do lost do good works too ?

For the believer, the first view is correct. Even a mature believer can choose to walk in his flesh and commit heinous sins. Our flesh never gets cleaned up. We should strive to walk in the Spirit as a believer. - Trent

@@BibleLine there is no salvation apart from repentance. Repentance, or "metanioa" in Greek, is a change of mind so deep and profound that the natural result is new behavior, desires, and attitudes. Saving faith will always be accompanied by a turning away from sin and following Christ. You tickle ears telling people they can have their sin and Jesus too. Marching millions into hell

Repentance is defined only as a change of mind as metanoia. You can’t show me anything proving it results in a change of action. Of course I would hope it results in a change of action, but the word literally only refers to changing one’s thinking. Unbelief to belief. According to you, a person can believe something, but if they don’t act upon it, they never really believed? Faith in Christ saves, not the actions that follow. Jesus died for all my sin, so I don’t have to turn from that sin in order to be saved. We turn from sin BECAUSE we are saved. I was justified FREELY. Romans 3:24 - Trent
