Day hiked summit 4 times, once via Mountaineers Rt. 16 hrs. RT. Rock helmet highly recommended on the switchbacks and upper traverse. Lots of loose rocks that can fall from above, or trip you on the trail.

So green! My daughter and I did it just last week in one day. Brutal but a great accomplishment.

@@JamieMcCracken can’t wait to see that video, GSM is a favorite of mine as well. Im soloing the Art Loeb as soon as this tropical storm moves on. Hopefully there’s no damage in Pisgah NF and the Smokies. Happy trails!

I appreciated your video. Good job. I summited Whitney on my NOBO JMT hike this past summer, so I came in on the back side and had more days to acclimate which was prob good for me, I’m 61. Very intimidating to star from there, but once accomplished, gave me. Boost of confidence to tackle the rest. Nice to see what the front side is like. Subscribed. Keep it up. I have the Nemo pillow too, but quit trying to stuff it into its sack on Day..ish 1.

Explain why you are night hiking, is it because it’s so long you don’t want to risk night hiking going down?
@JamieMcCracken18 сағат бұрын
Technically, I was morning hiking! Haha! Most get up that early so they can do a sunrise summit, and, yes, it's a long day considering you have to get off the mountain, back down to trail camp and then back down -- and off -- the mountain. 😁
@kristymoore705218 сағат бұрын
@ :) I don’t understand dark hiking just for the sunrise. That’s me and I’m older. I did it from the backside. Easier, but I saw the stream of folks heading out at 2am from there. No snow.
