The last Government ruined everything with privatization , so no new Nuclear power stations .... it would be a very good idea , given the unstable state of the world and also that no wind power is generated on still days, to Keep our two remaining Coal Fired Power Stations in excellent order and on standby to burn British sourced coal from British mines when needed . Re opening Kellingley would be sensible, plus the new one in Cumbria would be useful . Sorry, thanks for a good video Donny.☺☺☺☺

A great video Pete with a fitting tribute regarding the demise of coal fired power stations. I feel so angry at the climate activists and their stupid antics in this country. The UK has done more than anyone to get to net zero and yet they are still not satisfied untill the lights have gone out and we are all sitting around a candle to keep warm. Oh no ! i forgot candle wax is oil based doh !. Any way thanks for sharing some great footage as always Pete, cheers, Colin.

@colingarwood9971 cheers Colin, and as always, I appreciate your comment. My views are the same, mate. It pains me that for the whole of my life I've been surrounded by coal and coal trains. And to watch them disappear to nothing but a disgrace. Good job China are opening another 100 coal powered power stations fffs

Well summarised Pete, you know how I feel about the coal industry. A shout out to GBRF thoiugh for the naming official or otherwise a great gesture. Coal will always be king in this old man's mind.

When that series of power stations were built, they had a design (service) life of 25 years..... Practically doubled that!

The original reason for building railways has died, now of course it's people but back in the 1800s it was to shift coal, and then they noted that people wanted to have a go too and get to another town etc.

interesting that the original comment I posted seems to have disappeared?????? Anyway never mind, but as the net zero madness progresses a lot of freight traffic will disappear from my local area, also is all freight going to end up pulled by 66s?
@donnypete2 ай бұрын
@debroahtaylor6398 A lot of freight traffic (well, what's left) will still be hauled by the class 66 for now, until the class 99 takes over. And I agree with the net zero madness as that's all it is. A money-making racket . I'm unsure how your original post has gone?? As I haven't deleted it.

The Class 66 is a great example of an efficient freight locomotive!! We have an EWS Class 66 at Broxbourne Yard.

Shame it is the last coal train,at least you got good footage. Grimethorpe was using coal and making good in roads to cleaner energy with the new style power station, but I believe a lack of funding made it close down. A shame as it would have made our electricity cheaper and less dependent on foreign power. So Coal is still King in my shoes,or miners clogs. LOL. I have also subscribed to Josh's channel.
