Thank you, Gunnar. I so much appreciate your fortitude in continuing to share your work and efforts for so many of us who will never be able to go and film/photograph these amazing animals. I think that Barry Lopez’s book, Arctic Dreams, was helpful to me to value such a unique animal and harsh environment.

Hei Joshua, Thanks for the kind words. I hope you gonna like the (for now) last episode from Dovrefjell coming next Saturday. I will have to have a look at that book. I got a lot from my stay on Svalbard in any case. Before that I was all summer-typical-german-fjord-tourist :D

Wonderful stuff as usual! Lovely footage, the afternoon looked like a much more relaxing time!

Yeah, especially in winter it is hard to get them active during the late hours. They graze mostly during the day, lay down and then chew again and again like the big sheep they are :D

Really good Gunnar, great atmospheric music...I like the look of the tent too. Just visited Antarctica in November so am reading about polar explorations and the fortitude of people to struggle through the cold. Keep happy this year!

Hei Alan, Thanks for tuning in and the compliment. I hope you had a great trip. A lot of things go better this year, but I still have to work on my performance :)

Bovids are hoofed mammals that comprise the family Bovidae, living bovids range in size from the royal antelope to the gaur, living bovids are only found in North America, Eurasia, and Africa, all bovids have a single sharp end on each horn, this is present in both males and females, males tend to have longer horns than females, as the largest and most diverse family of living hoofed mammals, there are over one-hundred-and-fifty-eight extant species within seventy-two genera, ten subfamilies and three major clades, the major clades are the primitive clade, the cattle-like clade, and the goat-like clade, the primitive clade consists of three subfamilies: Ovibovinae (Muskox, Takin, Gorals, Mountain Goat, Serows, Chamoises, and Tahrs), Hippotraginae (Grazing Antelope), and Alcelaphinae (Hartebeests, Wildebeests, Damalisks, and Hirola), the cattle-like clade consists of three subfamilies: Peleinae (Rhebok), Reduncinae (Reedbucks, Lechwes, Kob, Puku, and Waterbuck), and Bovinae (Cattle, Spiral-Horned Antelope, Nilgai, and Chousingha), and the goat-like clade consists of four subfamilies: Caprinae (Goats and Sheep), Antilopinae (Gazelles and True Antelope), Cephalophinae (Duikers), and Neotraginae (Dwarf Antelope).

@@GunnarDresler I moved from the D5 to the Z9 so it felt natural.
@GunnarDresler Жыл бұрын
True enough. It’s a great instrument, but definitely not for me. This weight has nothing for me when we talk about mirrorless. It is great with light lenses for photo reasons, but I’ll get to that :)
@M.Oksanen Жыл бұрын
You have tons of experience with the 200-500 lens and with the 400mm lens. Do you prefer a zoom or the prime?
@GunnarDresler Жыл бұрын
Hei, I need probably some more with the 400mm, but it is as easy as this: Photo=Prime, Video=Zoom. My concentration on the latter will probably lead to me buying the 180-600 in the near future. But first Z8. Cheers!
@M.Oksanen Жыл бұрын
@@GunnarDresler Do you feel the 400mm is enough if for example you photograph the muskox? Im also shooting Z6 and was planning to buy the 180-600 as my do everything lens.
@GunnarDresler Жыл бұрын
I guess for most people the zoom is better, though it’s double the weight. For muskoxen the 400 is fine. If you want more reach there’s of course a tele converter, but tests actually show if you have more MPs, you should actually just crop.

I guess there is less of us and we are more secluded here and there... and then we often have to be quiet, so it does not always work. But Dovrefjell and Muskoxen works well with groups :) And thinking about it now, we also do travel or need to travel less in a lot of cases.
