Shawn in my opinion is well informed from years of learning and adapting. Seems so much information and trying to condense that into a moment or swing segment is challenging. He knows 200 ways to do “something”. The wisdom is there,, how does one tap into it… Can get lost in the messaging??? Set up tips and “ getting taller” was helpful for me….😊
@NewNineGolfАй бұрын
Ya there was hours and hours of footage and information and I tried my best to keep the "most important" stuff. And I'm sure that was just the tip of the iceberg. He did a really good job of helping us understand what was and what wasn't important in each of our golf swing and answering any questions we had. I think he said it best at the end "if we can get you closer to clarity, you' re going to play better golf" I'm glad those tips were helpful. Ya the setup is huge. Going to working on that all winter. haha.

Thanks best of luck to you, really enjoyed the video. Heard a professional athlete today on a show and was asked, “what makes a good coach”. He said- “someone who teaches you to be better at your craft in a way that doesn’t confuse you or complicate the process”- I suspect good golf coaches figure this part out.. or become onetrick/ tip advocates …bet you would appreciate John TATTERSAL/his concepts and teaching…

that was a good lesson and fun to watch. so you had a decent action going in and he worked on your alignment and your take away backswing and thoughtful insight to get you more on track. my arms go inside too much when i turn back so i'm gonna work on that too. i really got something out of it too and having a top notch instructor helps. i've only had a few lessons in my life but never got a lot out of them because the teachers weren't that good. either you are really tall or sean is really short in stature. thnx.

Foley is so good. Keep doing what he asks and you will see improvements. I agree you were too under the plane and bending towards the ball. Tiger used to suffer a similar thing and would fix it by doing a pre-shot routine swinging OTT.

@ranmangolfАй бұрын
So in Foley's downswing sequence, it is my understanding that it starts with a pressure shift from the back leg to the front leg, followed by a rotary hip turn. What does the arms do? Are they passive or does he advocate moving the arms down and front with a motor control?
@NewNineGolfАй бұрын
We didn't discuss sequencing with my swing but I know he mentioned that your backswing dictates how your arms move. Its definitely not passive as he talks about how your arms are really really important in generating speed. There's a lot more footage I'm going through so if I come across anything relating to your question. Ill be sure to include it in the upcoming videos. (I plan on releasing seperate full swing, short game and putting videos of me working with his coaches)
@ranmangolfАй бұрын
@@NewNineGolf Thanks for the reply and I'll look forward to more videos. I guess what I'm trying to figure out is whether or not to pull the club handle down with the arms in addition to the body movements.

May i ask whats his explanation on “when you over draw it feels more solid off the face”? Thats what im getting also. Thank you!
@NewNineGolfАй бұрын
An overdraw feels good because it usually comes from hitting the ball near the sweet spot, making the club feel solid and smooth. The swing path and slightly closed face help compress the ball and keep the club stable through impact. The ball flies strong and controlled, which feels satisfying and powerful, even when you over hook it.

Sean says "So as we talk about the hips, the body, & the the turn.....that angle is so important in being able to do the rest of that up the chain." When he says that angle is he talking about how to get off your right side properly? (like a baseball pitcher)
@NewNineGolfАй бұрын
He was referring to how tour pros have freaky mobility and strength in their ankles and their wrist. And how importantly it is to activate the different muscle groups that support the whole sequence. Sorry there was a lot of footage so I had to cut stuff out. Hope it makes sense. I always wondered why every golf performance instructor I've been to made me do wrist and ankle exercises and stretches. This kinda substantiated for me.

Foley will forever be remembered as, The Coach Who Broke Tiger's Back."
@NewNineGolfАй бұрын
Tiger himself has never blamed Foley for his injuries. He has often attributed his back issues to years of wear and tear from his intense training regimen and playing golf at a high level since childhood.
@NewNineGolfАй бұрын
Justin Rose says he had back injuries since he was a teenager. I don't know. Lol fun to blame Sean online I guess.
@jameskinzer57919 күн бұрын
People also forget the ridiculous swing speed and torque tiger had. He was the fastest in the tour at the time in the 90s. If you think that years of that wasn’t going to put wear and tear on his back you’re naive.

SOS! This video was so amazing but ever since watching it I have been shanking relentlessly! I have the prosndr and can’t stop shanking my pitch shots! Can anyone explain??
@NewNineGolf17 күн бұрын
Try keeping your chest down thru impact or the feeling of your hitting the ball with your chest and rotating through. Mostly likely doing the new moves, your disconnecting your arms and/or losing your posture. Just a guess without seeing your swing. Lmk if that helps.

“What’s making the ball start, clubface”- I thought clubface is where the ball ends up and path dictates start line? Thats how Tiger, morikawa, Homa all shape shots 🤨
@NewNineGolfАй бұрын
Technically the face has a bigger impact on where the ball starts. When Tiger and Morikawa explains how they shape it, it's more of a feel they're explaining and really dumbing down the relationship between the clubface and path when shaping the ball. Also they're not struggling with alignment. Sean was moreso trying to explain the face is where the ball starts for alignment on a neutral shot. Ie, Don't aim the feet, aim the club face. He's trying to dumb it down for people coming over or have trouble aligning and manipulating the swing. Both are correct, it's just you have to get the basics right before you can start shaping shops consistently.
@LongarmshortarmАй бұрын
@ I appreciate the explanation man. Makes sense. Thanks

@NewNineGolfАй бұрын
Tbh I haven't even taken a deep dive into this topic. I've read comments like he ruined the tiger, destroyed his swing etc. But nothing really specific. How I look at it logically is, why would other tour players go to him and have success with him if that was the case? I think those people would have better insight? It seems like alot of it is just repeating an internet narrative. I don't know. I can only tell you from my own experience, he's legit and knows what he's talking about.

I feel Tiger moved away because he wanted and needed different things. Sean works with what people have. He’s been in the game 30+ years and still has a top talent portfolio for a reason. He’s no nonsense and straight up. Just like any coach - if the approach doesn’t work for you or feel right for you (even if it used to) there’s no law saying you have to stay ..
@michaelrowe6220Ай бұрын
Tiger ruined himself. Never should’ve moved on from Butch. It’s pretty easy to see, the massive mistake both Tiger and Rory made…they won WAY more before they bulked up. 1997-2008 he won all but one of his majors, then he started his Navy Seal training. Then came the surgeries and the back problems and the injuries. Stopped winning on the regular. Rory followed his footsteps, same results…stopped winning. The same fate is about to happen to Will Zalatoris. Someone need to tell these world class golfers, bulking up is a game wrecker.🙄
