Some trainers are coming out of the woodwork I don't know who bill is. I'm impressed with you. Paid him a compliment meant for you and I got to figure out how to remove it.

Does it matter which way he goes as long as he gets it or are you trying to teach him because you will be putting him in competition and that is the way they want it

I would so appreciate your Professional opinion in reference to Blue, Phil's 🐕 on DD. He was so amazing at retrieving but he had this issue with whining and they retired him. God bless him.

What's the point of not running the bank?

I want to know, also. In real life. the water is the dangerous spot for the dog. They are faster on land and they dry/warm up running back. Thanks for the video.

I believe this is more for competition than hunting scenario? I'm not an expert but we trained our dog using Richard Wolter's book Game Dog and from what I recall a smart dog will use the least amount of effort to make the retrieve. That would be running the bank. He even states if you are looking for competition dog that will go in a straight line no matter what that it's the wrong book for you. Just a thought.

Wondering this too - what’s the problem with running the bank?

I was thinking maybe straight lines are better in a huge field so the dog doesn't get lost or turned around in the thick.

@@WHatchitW In a field, it make sense. When retreiving blind, it makes sense. When the dog sees the bird fall and makes a decision to go the quickest, safest way? I do not understand the "why."
