Engineering captain here, I can confirm the importance of the delay between input and output. My faculty at university (aerospace engineering) does quite a lot of research into flight simulators and human machine interactions. By modelling human behaviour you can directly see (through observing the Bode/frequency plots of a human's response) that the higher the delay put into the system, the smaller the phase margin becomes before the entire system becomes unstable. With enough delay the system (human + machine + dynamic simulator) can become unstable and uncontrollable. Higher phase margins (thus lower delays) allow for better and easier control.

I used to play on the PS4, and it was only when I switched to PC that I really noticed the difference in input lag. The TV I used for the PS4 is a 52 inch OLED and I actually use an Alienware laptop for gaming now. It really does make a huge difference especially at higher ranks. I also use .10 for the deadzone for a little extra response time. Good video.

A tip that I suggest is remapping your boost to your right bumper (R1 for PS4 and whatever it is for Xbox). It made it a lot easier to perform aerials due to the fact that I didn't need to move my thumb off of the jump button in order to use boost to boost upward for an effective aerial. It's not quite as tedious or as annoying as it would be to jump then shift your thumb over. Instead you just jump and then hold the right bumper. Try it out, it doesnt work for everybody but I noticed a steep climb in my skill at aerials and the game after I made the switch. That and a lot of practice.

input lag is different from response time response time has 2 factors hertz and ms and if it says 1ms thats response time but input lag is different from that since instead of being soully dependent on the monitor its also dependent on ur device that sends the data so when u add up how long it takes the monitor and device to communicate u get input lag

I recently got the AOC G2460PG monitor which is 144Hz and G Sync compatible. It is not listed on your Input Lag Database but Tom's Hardware tested it at 7ms. I used to have an older 60Hz monitor and since switching to 144Hz my play has improved considerably. I hook it to a GTX970 which can easily hold a constant 140fps, even on Aquadome. G Sync also means I dont have to choose between increasing input lag via v-sync or putting up with screen tearing. I could have bought a cheaper non G Sync monitor months ago but I'm glad I waited and saved up the extra. It was well worth it in my book.

so i changed the dead zone to 15 (10 was too twitchy) and my game play is way better literally overnight. got rising star for first time in singles and doubles. dribbling is significantly improved, as with juking. literally the best tip i have ever gotten.

I run a 27" BenQ GW2760HS which has a TOTAL response time (input) lag of 8.3ms which is an LED monitor that runs ~$220 cdn which I would consider affordable if you're doing any kind of serious gaming. The size, response, display quality and longevity of the monitor I'd say make it a pretty good candidate

The BenQ monitors cost more because of the refresh rate and fps is pretty important in a game of quick reaction gameplay. The ASUS monitor you're endorsing only has a refresh rate of 60 hz which is the lowest possible option for a PC monitor. A better choice would be the ASUS VG248QE. It will cost about $100 more but for as long as ASUS monitors last it's a good investment.

The deadzone option is made for controller drift. (When your left or right stick moves slightly to the left or rightwithout you moving it) The option doesn't really make your car turn faster or slower.

No, its not. If you have your analog stick all the way over a difference in sensitivity will move the car/camera faster or slower. If you have a really small dead-zone then you only have to tilt the stick a small amount for the car/camera to begin to move. If you have a really large dead zone and you don't move the stick far enough, then the car/camera wont even move at all.

Putting your deadzone down to a minimum value isn't all upside. Having a super small deadzone is going to increase the chance you accidentally backflip when you are trying to fast launch. If you're doing that a lot, dial your deadzone back up
