The refs got this partially wrong. The woman on the floor was trying to protect herself by kicking at the multiple women standing over her. She had 3 women of the other team standing over her and one was aggressively coming towards her.

Sykes initially cuffed her arm around her waist pulling Clarendon down causing Clarendon to bring her arm around Sykes to stop the fall but ended up taking both of them down. And then Sykes had the nerve to get mad when she was the one of caused it?

It looks like Sykes was initially attempting to hold her up and keep her from falling, while wrapping her up to make sure she didn't get a shot off. But both of them lost their balance, and then Clarendon grabbed the back of her shirt and pulled, perhaps to get separation as they fell. None of the original play was malicious, and was just good tough basketball. It was the push from Sykes and the retaliatory kick from Clarendon that went too far.

If someones on their way up for a jump, what do you expect is gunna happen if you jump infront of them regardless of being held or not.
