I'm curious what's the profit from making free games like this? I can think only of self promotion and voluntary donations. Is there more to it?

I mainly just made them because I want to get some practice making games and it's also cool to have them as a portfolio piece. In the future I might make paid games and getting an audience from these ones helps as well lol
