A circa 3 km da Usseaux si trova il villaggio di Balboutet, la borgata del sole, delle rondini e delle meridiane.
Balboutet è una borgata alpina italiana situata nel cuore di Alta Valle Chisone, a 40 Km da Pinerolo e 80 Km da Torino. Fa parte del comune di Usseaux, insieme ad altre quatro borgate - Usseaux (capoluogo), Laux, Pourrieres e Fraisse - ed è uno dei centri più importanti della vale in quanto riguarda l’allevamento bovino e la produzione dei formaggi.
Viene chiamato il “paese del sole” per via della sua esposizione in pieno Sud. Il paese non è mai all’ombra, il sole riscalda sempre la borgata, anche il giorno del solstizio d’inverno.
Essendo il paese del sole, e data la sua esposizione privilegiata, lungo le vie del borgo, sui muri delle case, troviamo circa 20 meridiane, ognuna disegnata da un’artista e ognuna con un significato diverso e originale.
Molto particolare è anche la Piazza del Sole. Una piazza con una vista invidiabile sulle montagne e dove è situata una gigantesca meridiana e un percorso didattico che illustra il sistema solare.
Pure le rondini adorano questo posto e si fermando ogni anno qui, motivo per cui la borgata è denominata pure “Il paese delle rondini”.

Balboutet is an Italian Alpine village located in the heart of Alta Valle Chisone, 40 km from Pinerolo and 80 km from Turin. It is part of the municipality of Usseaux, together with four other villages - Usseaux (capital), Laux, Pourrieres and Fraisse - and is one of the most important centers in the valley as regards cattle breeding and cheese production.
It is called the "town of the sun" because of its southern exposure. The town is never in the shade, the sun always warms the village, even on the day of the winter solstice.
Being the town of the sun, and given its privileged exposure, along the streets of the village, on the walls of the houses, we find around 20 sundials, each designed by an artist and each with a different and original meaning.
The Piazza del Sole is also very particular. A square with an enviable view of the mountains and where there is a gigantic sundial and an educational path that illustrates the solar system.
Swallows also love this place and stop here every year, which is why the village is also called "The town of swallows".
