If you don't already know Nev, the red rock cod are one of the best fish I've eaten from the ocean. If you get enough that are decent size o urge you to try it. Be warned....they can still spike you once dead and it hurts just as bad 😅

I dont think people understand what it means to go into the ocean, alone, in a smallish kayak. I bought a 15 foot smokercraft that I exclusively take out on lakes. And reservoirs. The reservoirs can be dangerous with wind. But the ocean, or a quick running river.. horribly dangerous. To take a kayak on the ocean takes experience of tides, wave height, and wind. And it is very dangerous. To be able to do this confidently and carefully alone takes a brick of experience. Looks easy its not. Even in Australia.
