2. IFS Self Therapy Session around Parts Who Perform for Worth: Maude, Chrissy, and Sebastian

This is the second video in this series of my Self-led IFS sessions. In this session, I pursue the trailhead of a pattern of performing to desperately seek approval from others. I end up meeting a pageant girl named Maude, a 3-year-old part named Chrissy who holds the burdens of shame, incompetence, and fear of punishment. A surprise part, Sebastian, who is loyally and fiercely protective also shows up.

After many years of practice with Meditation, Mindfulness, and Self-compassion, I was able to approach my parts from Self (with open curiosity and compassion), but if you find that you feel numb, frustrated, or afraid of the part you are going toward, you may need to do an initial step of meeting those parts' concerns so that they can give you space to approach the target part with openness.
