Throwback to my first and only shiny encounter with a floatzel in victory road when i didnt know what shinies were. I wanted to catch it but i had no pokeballs. That was a very very long time ago and i still havent seen another shiny pokemon in the wild ever.

It’s not a “method” more of a trick to help increase a specific species encounter rate. The “method” is still random encounters. The type of repel is irrelevant but max repels give the most bang for your buck

Congrats! Question: Do lots of Shiny Hunters not like to maximize catch rates and such? I always carry a Pokemon with Glare, Thunder Wave, or Spore, and a Pokemon with False Swipe if my target has no recoil moves. In Gen 7, I even use a Pangoro with Scrappy so I can whittle down ghost types. It just seems like the full odds hunters prefer not to try as much as possible to catch the Shiny once they find it. That's my opinion, as a Shiny Hunter who uses SOS chaining, False Swipe, Harvest, Scrappy, Paralysis, Sleep, and Shiny Charm odds.

Derek Mijangos it depends on the person's preference of course but me personally, I like to make a Pokémon as easy to capture as possible, so I usually have my Parasect with Spore and False Swipe to do that. From my experience, sleep status tends to work better for me rather than paralysis. I'm not sure if that's proven but I like it. I'm currently SRing for shiny Lugia in my Silver Version, so I'm having to deal with full odds. I just want to do it to say I did but I personally love using the Masuda Method most, then SOS battles.

I'm late to the party but sleep is better than paralysis for sure. I think paralysis has a x1.5 factor and sleep has a x2 factor. It's just more annoying because it's not permanent so you have to put the Pokémon to sleep over and over (mostly legendaries since they're often hard enough to resist being catched until they wake up).

Play it similar to mindsweeper, if you dont rush yourself, you can almost always figure out where the bombs are. Otherwise look up a guide for it on youtube.

So i was just going through some voltorb flip again for a psychic tm and found out a few things that may help you further: When you look at your board layout you should notice a few things. First off is obviously the rows with 0 bombs. As such you should just always click them so they are out of the way. Next, some things that you could notice is how likely something is to have a x2 or x3 in its row. For example, if you ave a 3,3 then there is a x2, same thing for a 4,2 and a 5,1. On the same thing, if you have a 4,3 then you have a x3 and x1, or a x2 and x2. Personally on this, i find its usually a x3 x1, but you should be able to find out by looking at your board. This is essentially, if you have a 4,3 going vertical, a 6,1 going horizontal, and a 4,2 going vertical, i would recommend that you should click the 4,3 6,1 tile, even though it has more bombs. 5,2 and 61 can also be x3 x1, or x2,x2 (another x1 for 5,2 and another x1 x1 for a 6,1) From this point, you can also use this as you continue higher numbers, just take time and look at the whole picture. I hope that this can help some more.
