Diese Stelle gehört zu meinen liebsten in der 2ten. Es läuft einem kalt den Rücken herunter. Ich habe im Chor schon die 2te mitgesungen - in meinem heimischen Theater. Und ich liebe Blechbläser.

Ich bin zwar kein aktiver Musiker, aber diese Passage und auch der subtilere kurze Posaunenchor im "Urlicht" aus dem selben Werk fasziniert mich immer wieder aufs Neue.

@@ingorichter649 Es ist absolut perfekt komponiert worden. In einem Werk wie der 2ten ein absolutes Meisterwerk in einem Opus Magnum. Das in Mahlers Werken, das wohl wie keines sonst den "Werdegang" des Menschen spiegelt.

@@hillcresthiker Convertgebouw does a much better rendition. I sympathize with Peter in the sense that it felt a bit underwhelming. They don’t quite reach the same dynamic in the brass chorale till the very last beat, whereas other brass sections really push it fairly early on in the crescendo. But I feel like in other excerpts the Vienna Philharmonic really shines

@@gearaddictclimber2524 I was thinking it was a weak rendition but they kind of hit you with a late bloom there. A little rough around the edges, but that's not necessarily bad. Interesting for sure. I like the (or 'a') NY version of this, but I'm biased. I like the Concertgebouw too, but it's just a tiny bit tame for my particular taste. All are great.
