2 Minute Tutorial: Internal Antenna Tuning on Icom 7300

The internal antenna tuner on the IC-7300 does a great job with both my vertical multiband and horizontal trapped antennas. Unless you are committed to an external antenna tuner, I recommend that you get to know both the tuner and SWR graph functionality of the 7300.
**** Note: I realized after uploading this video that I forgot to mention that if the radio is not able to tune at all, the "Tune" indicator will disappear. However, just because the "Tune" indicator is present doesn't mean that you have a good SWR. If you only use one antenna regularly, you will get acclimated to the limits... For me though, as I switch between different antennas frequently, I find myself tuning AND checking SWR on low power.

Love these!!! One note for new Hams. You probably should mention to tune at 10 watts or so. Lastly, is it better to tune in the rtty mode or the ssb mode? And, a tech at Icom mentioned that if I go to the ‘emergency mode’, that the tuner has a wider range???? Thanks William

Great helpful short video! If the tuner will not tune the frequency, will it have a red dotted line around the TX and not transmit on that freq? Thanks

Hi David, to be honest, I don't know. I don't have an external Icom tuner and I've never operated on 1.80MHz. Ham Radio A2Z has some great content and he shows how to use an external tuner (not Icom) kzbin.info/www/bejne/qJvNnWmAa92LbtE If that doesn't help, I'd look at asking on the Ham Radio Crash Course group as there are lots of people there willing to share some expertise.
