Sir great video thanks, can you please explain or make a video on detailing welding 2 lengths of pipe together (joined end to end on same axis) For example 2x random lengths 6” diameter pipe sch80 that need to be joined, the weld needs to have a root gap between root face, bevels preps on each the edges, Can you select pipes and fittings from the content center to make a create pipe run as an assembly, Then convert the run to a weldment to detail the model for visual pictorial as well as welding procedure? Or do you just keep it simple and only detail annotations and weld symbols in the DRG? Thanks 🇦🇺

Your welcome on the video - Sorry for the delay, but you should be able to do a groove weld. If welding heavy pipe with mulitple passes you should be able to do multiple groove welds on top of each other. You may just have to etch the end of the pipes at each height you want a weld. So if you have a constant chamfer and want 3 welds on that chamfer you'll have to put in 2 etches to be able to create the 3 welds. We're not on 2022 or 2023 but with Model states you should be able to show stages of weld too if you desire. Regards

We created custom Styles for the Appearance. For the parts we use a color of RGB 255 255 255 and no texture. For the weld we use a color of RGB 240 27 186 and the image for the Appearance was weldcat0.bpm which is part of the Autodesk Inventor Appearance library. For the weld bead I believe I took the out of the box Inventor Weld - Mild Steel Appearance and duplicated it and changed the color to the RGB 240 27 186.

It's as easy as creating a custom appearance which there's info and videos on the web to do this. As I recall from many years ago I took a default Inventor Appearance "Weld - Steel Mild" and saved it as a new appearance then edited that new appearance. Under the "Generic" flyout I set the "Color" as RGB 240 27 186 and also turned on the "Tint" field and for the "Tint Color" I assigned: RGB 240 27 186. If you already have your custom appearance created you can search your install location for the texture file: "weldcat0.bmp" and assign that to the Image field under the "Generic" Flyout and set the colors as above. Or what ever colors you prefer. One last note is the size of the curves in the texture can be modified to better match the size of your parts. To do this edit the appearance and under the "Generic" flyout pick on the actual image in the "Image" field. In there you can scale the image and we use .33 in. width and .29 in. height. Best of luck!

The voice fry is too much for me. Content looks great but kill the Valley Doll inspired voice fry.
