Damn bro, a year ago... You went from Help Desk to AWS, to JavaScript Developer. Talk about a wild ride.

Man, who are you telling. Life is crazy.

Very inspiring journey man! I’ve been stuck on the help desk for 4 years. Just decided to get serious about coding since I had to learn powershell a couple years ago to avoid making changes to hundreds of accounts manually.

I saw your videos on OSCP many months ago. Is that something you're planning to retake in the future?
@JamalGDNR4 жыл бұрын
Absolutely. I'll get back into it when my career stabilizes and I become more financially stable.

Still planning on getting the RHCSA? I'm studying for that then moving to the AWS certs I think
@JamalGDNR4 жыл бұрын
Yep, that's definitely still on the list for 2020. I have a lot of things on my plate right now but hopefully I can give it a shot and start studying for it in Q4

Greetings bro, is it possible if you could have a quick chat with me because I was planning on taking the same route getting into Tech first with helpdesk and then progressing into software development specifically on the front end so JavaScript react redux maybe node. Js ect

Is there any certs you recomend for html, css, js to better your chances on getting a job

What's the website called, and are you using node.js for the backend?

I think you had switched to a job related to aws. How did u end up in javascript?
@jareda89434 жыл бұрын
The keyword is WITH aws. With AWS, you can automate a lot of js scripts via lambda. Fits hand in hand
@JamalGDNR4 жыл бұрын
Yup J A is right. We use a lot of the stuff that is covered in the Developer AWS cert. I'm on the Cloud team but I also needed to learn Javascript for when they need people to help out.

If someone wants to get into front end dev, would you recommend starting with Python as a first language or go the HTML, CSS then JavaScript route?
@JamalGDNR3 жыл бұрын
html css then javascript. React is super popular

hey man, started following you back in december. Crazy progress! im coming up on my 1st year as a help desk lead and its time to start looking at whats next. Getting away from customer service/users and bouncing ideas off like-minded people sounds pretty awesome. can you speak on roughly how much they're paying you in this new role?
@JamalGDNR4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for following! I'm glad I started learning more about cloud technologies. Now that I'm in a position that deals with one it's easier to see why it's trending right now. Also around ~70k

@@JamalGDNR Inspiring stuff man! I feel a lot like you did with help desk, i dont hate it like alot of my coworkers... but the workload continues to increase as time goes on, and I dont feel like its making me better anymore. I bought Stephane's AWS CSAA course. I plan to take the test at the end of August so that gives me one month to study.

Go ahead and level up yr Github profile with a smiling picture. Sounds corny, and might be a challenge.
