i own both (granted i have the spb117/red alpinx) both are fantastic pieces however i still tend to wear the hammy more, its thinner and more comfortable, the finishing is better, the bracelet is better and theres none of the little things that bug me on the alpinist (the crystal sitting almost a mil above the bezel with no doming, the cheap looking cyclops, the cheap feeling bracelet and clasp) yes most of these issues can be resolved but the hammy is just the nicer watch straight out of the box from the perspective of someone that owns both

The Seiko alpinist has been an incredible watch in my collection. The green dial and gold accents are gorgeous. The case shape is also perfect for my wrist. I would pick the alpinist over most grand Seiko I've seen

Has to be the Hamilton! But I’m biased as I own one as an everyday wear. Swap the crystal for a double-dome blue AR crystal as I have, and it transforms the watch to another level. Mine is running -2 secs per day! I am fortunate enough to also own a Rolex Explorer 214270 & a 2022 Omega SeaMaster Aqua Terra and in my opinion the Hamilton holds its own in this company 🎉❤

I have the Seiko Alpinist SARB017 and the Hamilton Khaki Field Mechanical (Not the automatic version) and they are both incredible watches for everyday wear. They are in fact the two watches that get the most wrist time in the last 7 years since I own them. I would probably pick the Seiko Alpinist SARB017 over the Hamilton Khaki Automatic but I may prefer to chose the Hamilton Khaki Automatic as a only one watch collection.

I dont own either brand, but for me I’d get the Hamilton. Seiko has so many other models for the same price. I’d probably go with a dive watch from them. Whereas Hamilton basically only makes field watches. The seiko sure is pretty though, and that bezel is super cool.

Hamilton. Every seiko I've ever had has had issues. This one too - the alignment is off, the bezel has a tendancy to be a bit wonky (from side to side) when operating.

I love that green dial on the Seiko but chose the Hamilton khaki auto on the steel bracelet due to its versatility by just changing straps. You can dress it up, or dress it down. It goes well in both formal and causal events. A NATO strap for some pop of color and you have a summer watch

My buddy has this Alpinist and he claims he gets more compliments on it than any other piece he owns. He’s got some nice watches including an Omega Seamaster. It is different I’ll give it that. Green dial and the reddish brown strap looks damn good.

Without any question it would be the Hamilton. Robust, accurate and reliable. I've never owned a Seiko that kept good time and over my 60+ years I've owned a few. ( mechanical movements)

I would definitely go for the Seiko - its just bloody gorgeous! The Hamilton is more a basic field watch though, so perhaps fits the bill more. I have s Bulova Hack so dont really need the Hamilton. Seiko for me.

The Seiko doesn't look like a field watch. The Hamilton could be nothing else. I have the 38mm mechanical, earth-toned case, NATO strap, bought for the purpose for which it was originally designed. Splendid watch.

I love seiko but on this occasion im picking the hammy , for a watch in the field then the hammy wins imo but for tool watch to wear for dinner date then the seiko because its simply gorgeous, .

Hamilton owner here. I love that Seiko Alpinist, and I intend to buy one someday. As a daily wear, I'd probably pick Alpinist. I could wear it to a classy dinner. But for hiking 14ers and stuff, I'll probably keep choosing my Hamilton. Happy to wear either in both scenarios, btw. Both superb. :)

Alpinist. I don't have the SPB121, but have the SBEJ005 (green dial GMT) and love it. I prefer the SBEJ005 because it has a slightly domed crystal and no cyclops. Also, with this beauty, I have zero desire to get a Rolex Explorer.
