A poetic genius. It seems that he is talking about his gun, but he's written it in such a double entendre form that you can also relate many of the phrases to an actual girlfriend, one that will ride with you to the bloody end. A true classic.

I damn near feel like a gangster listening to this. Greatest lyricist of all time. How can he rap about social issues like on Brenda's Got a Baby and Changes, to love songs like "Do for love", to songs about friendships like on "I Aint mad at cha" , to songs dedicated to his mama "Dear Mama" to THIS. SOO BRILLIANT and ahead of his time!!!!!. Intelligent poet and free thinker. Please show me another rapper who is this articulate and can do ALL of this by 25?????????????????? GONE TOO SOON. Lost in da whirlwind 96 Bonnie and Clyde Me nd my girlfriend Doin 85 when we ride Trapped in this world of sin Born as a ghetto child Raised in this whirlwind

It's 96 when pac died (or not😂) Huey p. Newton was 47 when he died pacs mom would of been 38 in 19(85) 47 is also the yr his mom was born. 47+38=85. Lost in this whirlwind 96 bonnie nd Clyde referring to him and his girlfriend which is not a gun but rather his wisdom or passion for being an activist which he got from his mother and the black panthers. At 9 started my life of crime with you bought you some shells when you turned 22. He was 22 yrs old when me against the world came out and (including intro) the 9th song is "dear momma"pac giving credit to his mother for his mindset and the Panthers. Then again 17 like brandy you just wanna be down... he was 17 when he had a high school interview with Marin magazine. Hence when he said talking loud when I tell you be quiet moving the crowd busting rounds activating a riot. Think bout it Knowledge and wisdom being an activist moves crowds activates riots. The whole song is I believe his voice being the girlfriend -as in wisdom, bible terms possibly. Also jealous when you hang with the fellas? Anticipating for the moment you come home...its like there's a part of him that sees himself as having superior wisdom or passion to be heard as an activist. To be the highest revered. Listen closely..... "look for me" he's saying he's lost to the whirlwind yet says raised in "This" whirlwind as if to say " look When I'm gone look for another me" raised out of the whirlwind he was lost in. Changing his name to makaveli also? Like if he's gone another one will rise. There's much much more but shiiit ask away if ya feel im onto something...

Tupac is rapping about his relationship with lady Fortune. He compares her to a gun because of the turbulent/violent nature of Fortune and how she is a fickle mistress and is best tamed by an impetuous nature. There are layers within layers in Tupac's music. Listen to the video again, and every time he says girlfriend replace that with Fortune. Another way to view this song, is within the context of his prodigious musical output in the studio over such a short period of time. Perhaps he recognized the unpredictable nature of Fortune, so he created as much music as he could while his fortune was good, because fortune always changes, but those that can adapt to changing times and/or plan ahead always have good fortune. One might say Tupac has had great fortune, even after death. He had the foresight to create a huge backlog of music that artists are still virtually collaborating with him on. He was definitely an impetuous genius.
